"One thing that I absolutely love about being part of humanity is that each of us has our own feelings and thoughts. Isn 't it amazing that you can be very close to somebody, and yet find out that several of your other close friends don 't like them. Or you go see a Broadway show and you walk out loving it to find out that the others in your group hated it. No one is right and no one is wrong. Each of us has our own perspective and taste, and that makes the world go round and makes it all so interesting! I say that as I begin this review of Jay 's Deli at Friendly Shopping Center because as much as I have been completely baffled over the years why anybody would want to go there, when I went there for lunch the other day due to the choice of my guest, the place was absolutely packed with at least 20 people waiting to get in. I don 't understand that. Jay 's is a deli? I don 't know, but where I come from in New York, a deli is a place you go for outstanding sandwiches like pastrami and corned beef and delicious side dishes like potato salad and coleslaw. To me, Jay 's is one big plastic factory The place is conveniently located at Friendly Shopping Center and there is plenty of parking nearby. As I approached the deli I could not believe how packed it was. Like I said, people were lined up waiting to get in. My guest already had a table waiting for us, so I was happy to join her and was immediately given the bland menu. It was a day I was trying to be healthy and so I ordered a grilled chicken salad. The food came pretty quickly considering how busy the place was, but when I saw what was on my plate, it was understandable t There was very little prep time needed. Some shredded lettuce, a few pieces of tomato and a piece of chicken drowning in some sweet barbecue sauce that I did not like. Nothing had changed since the last time I had been there several years ago. That salad could have been prepared at a Wendy 's drive-thru and I would not have been able to tell the difference. In retrospect, I should have scraped off all of that brown goo that they put on top of the pitiful salad that I was given. It did not take me long to finish it, and I was still hungry when I was done, and if I did not hate the food there so much I would have ordered something else, but I was not in the mood for another piece of plastic to eat I have to give Jay 's Deli props because they have been around as long as I can remember and people love that place as long as I can remember and I have not liked that place as long as I can remember! Service and location was good. Food was lousy. It 's not that easy to get a good deli sandwich in Greensboro, but I say without hesitation, Jay 's Deli ain 't it! Next time you go to New York check out Katz 's Deli on Houston Street and you will know what I 'm talking about. In the meantime, if you want something fast and convenient and don 't care about the taste or quality Jay 's Deli is the place to be!"

"I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant for the second time. Unfortunately, the food quality was terrible, and I ended up spending a good amount of money. The drinks and water were warm, and the fruit seemed stale, likely sitting in a warm fridge for days. Even the water I received had a broken seal, which I didn't notice until I opened it. The overall quality of the food was so poor that it could potentially make someone sick. During my first visit, the sour cream I received had a strange smell, but I dismissed it, thinking it might have gone bad because I picked it up late. This time, I visited the restaurant in person, expecting freshly made food. While most of the items looked fine, the steak had blood in it, which I discovered when the staff was cutting it and quickly placed it in the bowl without realizing until I turned away. I ordered steak with quinoa, sweet potato, and mac and cheese, but unfortunately, I couldn’t taste or smell the food before purchasing. When I finally opened my food back at work, a spoiled smell hit me, and I found a hair tangled in the quinoa along with questionable meat. I was too far from the restaurant to return for a refund, especially since I was on the clock. I called the manager to explain my situation. While she apologized and assured me everything was made fresh, we exchanged names, and she offered me store credit, which I’m not likely to use anytime soon. I could zoom in to see the hair—it was a small white sliver. I genuinely feel like I was served food that was over a week old and reheated."

"2nd Order Next Day!!!! Sat 5/6/23WE ARE OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE... We ordered the Pesto Chicken Wrap, Turkey Sandwich and Penne (Turkey Marinara Pasta. Everything is consistently fresh and flavors are delicious as ever. All Sandwiches/Wraps/Burgers also come with a side order of fries, salad or chips. Their fries are delicious/well flavored and again a very generous portion. Their Chips=Small Bag of Baked Lays. Owners, Vrej Anna, are super sweet. Haven 't met them in person yet because we order thru delivery BUT they threw in 2 free desserts for us too on this most recent order. And again, all special requests they accommodated without trying to charge us extra for a side of their delicious sauces/condiments. New Favorite Local Gem because of the range of food they offer AND willingness of the owners to accommodate your special requests AND the food is always delivered hot. Thank you Anna Vrej! Fri 5/5/23Very fresh food, very generous portions and amazing flavors... recently discovered this spot/it 's a local mom/pop 's. Super happy we decided to give it a go!!! Great burgers, sandwiches, salads, wraps and pasta. We are trying out new items each time. Go To- Pesto Pasta is tasty... chicken and fresh veggies (mushrooms/yellow and green squash pieces . We order with heavy sauce so the pasta looks darker than usual. New Favorite Item- Salmon Wrap. Very generous portion as with all their food. They create some unique flavor combinations with this one. Love the Dill Cream Cheese spread/sauce and they add huge Capers that give that pop of flavor. (May ask for some lemon wedges next time for a bit more acidity but overall this was a killer wrap. MUST TRY!Burgers and sandwiches are also amazing. Order Sandwiches on French Roll- HUGE and it 's fresh deli style. Won 't be disappointed! So far the only thing we wouldn 't recommend is their Ham/Swiss Croissant for $7. Not worth it, was burnt and dried out."
