"Everyone knows that Golden Krust offers below-average Jamaican food, but the experience at this location was particularly disappointing. I cannot recommend ordering oxtail from here under any circumstances. I was really hungry and have a fondness for oxtail, but even the large portion contained only about four pieces of meat, and I struggled to finish it. The flavor was unusual, almost like it had been seasoned with cilantro. The meat itself was dry and tough. Instead of a rich oxtail gravy, it was just oil. The steamed vegetables were heavily seasoned with cilantro instead of the traditional thyme. Additionally, the white rice was crispy and lacked flavor (I had ordered spinach rice, but they overlooked that request)."

"I ordered the curry chicken my husband ordered the stew chicken. I wanted to give this place a 5 stars so badly. I think I naturally root for the smaller businesses- my curry chicken almost got it there, but my husband's stew chicken was a little too greasy, I'm hoping it was just an off day. The cabbage rice taste more authentic than the chain Jamaican spots- it tastes like someone cooked my meal in their kitchen with love! the beef patties were just right. I'll definitely be stopping here again to try the oxtails."

"The food was delicious! atmosphere was calm and a bit too quiet, some music would’ve been nice. I ordered the jerk chicken from the lunch menu, server Enye asked me for the two sides failing to inform me that in getting two sides makes it an entre. Other than that detail, Enye was nice and attentive. Even though I paid more than I meant to, it was definitely worth it."

"I've been coming here for years, but honestly, the quality has declined. They now charge for even the smallest things, like sauce for your rice or jerk sauce for the jerk chicken—it's almost amusing! I ordered takeout and they forgot to include utensils. When I called to let them know, they told me I didn't ask for them. Since when do I need to specifically request utensils for takeout? It seems like basic courtesy to include them, regardless. This feels like a greedy move on their part. I wouldn't be sharing this if they hadn't been rude when I called. The food is okay, but definitely overpriced. They also no longer include plantains in your meal because that's now an extra charge. Do yourself a favor and choose another place to eat."

"I've ordered from this restaurant on GrubHub several times in 2022, because I liked their j shrimp stir fry.Earlier this year I went in to the restaurant and ordered a j chicken lunch special. I was saddened that the chicken wasn't made fresh; there wasn't actually any chicken cooking when I went into the restaurant.Today I ordered 12 wings and j shrimp stir fry from GrubHub. I could not believe that they actually filled the order for wings with wing zings! That is not a chicken wing! That's not the size of a chicken wing, and every wing zing does not have the 3 pieces of an actual wing. So to charge me $15 for little wing zings is outlandish.Then, I'm pretty sure that the wing zings were re-cooked because some of them were charred burnt and they drowned them in sauce to attempt to conceal how burnt they were.With regard to the shrimp stir fry, I requested the Jamaican rice and peas as a side. They gave me white rice with some kind of pea, but there were less than 20 peas, whatever kind they were.I have never ordered rice and peas at a j chicken restaurant and been given white rice with a couple handfuls of peas (I mean you can literally count the number of peas in the platter). I'm used to receiving red beans (I know they aren't kidney beans) and rice when I order rice and peas from a j chicken restaurant.I'm not going to be able to order from them again. I understand that the price of everything has increased, but cheating and deceiving customers isn't the right way to save a buck. I would rather pay a higher price and receive a quality entree consisting of what I actually ordered, than to pay a lower price and be wondering what in the world they have filled my order with...."

"Golden Krust has always been my go-to place for oxtails, but this time it was the worst I've ever had. The large portion was quite small and mostly consisted of bones, with very little meat. The cabbage was terrible—raw and lacking any seasoning. To top it off, I specifically requested extra oxtail gravy over the rice and meat, but I barely received three tablespoons. I will NEVER order from this location again and ended up throwing most of it away. Such a waste of money! Do yourself a favor and avoid this location. I'm extremely disappointed!!!"

"This is exactly the flavor we’ve been searching for! After two long years, we finally found it. The oxtail was juicy and packed with flavor, the fresh vegetables were vibrant, and the patties were just right. The curry chicken was fresh and aromatic, while the jerk was spicy and full of depth. Most of the meal was nearly perfect, including the seasoned sticky wings. However, the plain fried chicken was slightly dry, and the mac and cheese, although beautifully orange, tasted like it came from a box. I can't wait to try the goat and other dishes! Their chicken soup and sorrel were both outstanding, too. The staff were also incredibly sweet. Just a heads up, there’s no drive-thru as advertised. I'm so excited to have discovered this hidden gem!"

"yesterday I have golden crust in orange for lunch. I ordered the big oxtail with pork, cabbage and plantains. I also ordered a spicy beef patty on the side. absolutely loved the oxtails. they were tender and had great taste, and the sauce in which she was was also very good. I asked the lady to give me more pleasure than rice, and then I told her I would pay for extra ochs tails. the dame is happily obligated. customer service was super and attentive. the two of those who fulfilled my job were really nice. my only real question was the spicy bark patty. there were more diligent than meat, and the meat on the inside was not filled nor tantalizing at all. And to hide it from the patty was also a little cold. all in all, the overall experience was quite good, the ochsen were exceptional, and the spicy beef patty was pretty mediocre best. would be reordered by golden crust orange!"

"My only complaint is about one specific woman who is quite rude and slow. You really have to keep an eye on her while she prepares your order, or there's a good chance something will go wrong. She works during the early morning shift and is the slimmer, dark-skinned lady who always seems a bit down. On the other hand, there's another woman who is wonderfully efficient and a pleasure to interact with. If only everyone had her level of customer service! I hope someone takes notice of these comments, as it would greatly benefit them. For instance, today, she told my partner to open his mouth because she couldn’t hear him. How rude is that? She needs to be trained better or possibly let go!"

"One of the best Jamaican spots hands down in hillside food taste homemade and with love. The portions are phenomenal and price isn't too bad! We had the goat curry and oxtail the flavors were amazing and very well balanced and the salad included gave it a refreshing crunch while eating. The oxtail was done beautifully with the meat falling off the bone and the goat curry had tons of flavor! The service was great very friendly and patient! And the place was clean and spacious!This is a great place to being the fam to sit and eat or take out and enjoy at home if I could give it 10 stars I would!!!"

"I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant more! It's conveniently located near my home and has a nice presentation. The lunch menu is very affordable, but the texture of the chicken dish didn't appeal to me and the flavor was different from what I expected. The service was excellent, especially considering how busy it was with only one person working. The restaurant is small with no tables, but it is very clean inside. I will give it another try and order a different dish from the menu next time."

"I used to visit this restaurant frequently until the owner sold it. After that, the prices skyrocketed while the quality of the food declined. I started going to Stonecrest instead. Recently, I decided to give this place another chance. During my visit, I noticed a large man in the kitchen and was pleased to find that all the food I tried was good and fresh. However, when I returned less than a week later, the food was dry and there were limited options available. I went back again yesterday and took some photos—once again, the food looked dry and unappetizing. I asked one of the staff members when the food is at its best, and she told me around 5 PM, but I close my business at that time and noted that GC closes at 8 or 9 PM. If you come after 5 PM, she warned, you won’t get the best food. I suggested they close earlier, but ultimately, I left, unwilling to spend $30 to $40 on food that isn't worth eating. My three-star rating is based on my first visit."

"Normally? I don't have such poor reviews. I really don't like giving them. However, this place left me no choice. One great thing? It was very clean. Immaculate! I don't know what kind of Jamaican food they're serving. I also haven't tried everything they have to offer. But what I can say, based on my purchases, I would NEVER buy anything from this place again, unless it's a bottled beverage. It's a DISGRACE to Jamaican food. As a Jamaican, I was shocked. Everything purchased was AWFUL...Okay, the Chicken Soup was drinkable, but it failed in taste it was bland. The patties were dry beyond sense, the coco bread was coco bad tough, the harddough bread tasted terrible what happened??? The bun? The bun was dry stale really guys? The bun? Even the darn cheese for the bun was wretched. It lacked taste, and was too hard. The darn cheese made a sound, when dropped on the counter. Whhhyyy??? Now in their defense? They only prepared the soup, as everything else was pre done packaged. However, it's still disappointingly sad. I'm Jamaican, and I know good Jamaican food, when I taste it. I had a feeling, from the minute I walked in, that the food was going to be doubtful. Why? There was no wonderful cooking odor in the air. A dead give away. Food is supposed to slap you in the face from outside, but marinate your senses, at the very least, when you walk through the door. This definitely was not the case. The customer service was great mind you, wonderful. But the food? I feel my Sister I deserve our $53.22 returned. No...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER again. If you're looking for real Jamaican food? This isn't it."

"First of all, how can you come to this country and serve small, chopped-up pieces of chicken for jerk chicken? That type of food is considered poor people's fare in Jamaica! My wife, who is Jamaican, was genuinely insulted and disgusted by what we received. We paid $13 for jerk chicken, and what we got was a small portion with rice and hardly any peas. It's frustrating! It's unfortunate that Americans might accept this because they may not know any better. I recommend avoiding online orders and visiting the restaurant in person to ensure you're getting your money's worth."
