"Our server appeared to be handling at least 12 tables at once, which resulted in us only seeing him every 30 minutes. We almost missed the chance to place our food order because of this. However, our food arrived quickly, allowing us to make it to our show on time. The drinks were pricey, with $13 for a small serving of alcohol in a small glass with a large ice cube. Overall, we were very let down by our experience. It was surprising that the restaurant wasn't properly staffed, especially with a show taking place nearby."

"I’ve been here a few times with my girlfriend. Some times we’ve been here the service has been downright awful. This was especially the case in the months after COVID restrictions were eased, though our more recent visits have been better. They have a dedicated vegetarian and vegan menu which is a very nice touch. With that said, I’ve never been impressed by their food. Chips are often stale, guacamole can be over salted. I recently got the Portabelli Tacos and the taco shells were extremely stale. The portabello was very heavily breaded and fried, which may be appealing to some but wasn’t for me. Wouldn’t come back for food, but they do have nice drinks and I can appreciate the offering if a vegan and vegetarian menu"

"I was there on a Friday night with couple of my friends visiting from another country, Because we did not have a reservation we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to open up which made my friends a bit impatient, but they handed couple of complimentary drinks to make up for the wait so it all worked out fine. The food was just top notch. They prepare salads just as you order so makes a alot of difference. We will return as long as we are in New York in our next business trip."

"This is THE best dining experience I have EVER had in Astoria. The drinks were amazing (If you want to try something sweet and experimental get The Red Planet), appetizer (Brie with honey, figs, and mini toasts) was stunning. I got the beautifully plated roasted squash which had a phenomenal peanut butter sauce and toasted pumpkin seeds and boyfriend got the roasted pork dish which he said was the best he’s ever had (I tried a bite and couldn’t argue it was so tender and flavorful). Finished the night with the Mars bar dessert which was the perfect amount to split it was a fudge like dream, with candied thyme on top! Every plate and drink was so wonderfully curated in taste and aesthetic. My tastebuds went on the ride of their lives. We savored every bite and sip. I don’t write many reviews but this if you want a fantastic dining experience this is it. Plates are smaller, but the quality that your getting is beyond compare we left content without feeling overly full as often happens when going out. The service was also fantastic as well! Can’t wait to come back."

"Everything was good with the exception of about a 30 minute lull where it seemed like everyone disappeared. It felt like the meal took about 45 minutes longer than it needed to. But the food was good and, besides the disappearing servers, the interaction with the servers was amazing. The other huge drawback was parking. We ended up about a quarter mile away with quite a hike to make it back. It would have been farther if not for the luck of stumbling on someone leaving as we approached. My recommendation would be to focus on the GPS leading to good parking options first, and then worry about getting to the restaurant."

"Was with some friends at the nearby motel and we needed a restaurant open in the later hours, and Charlie's was very ideal, being just across the street, so we paid a visit. Excellent atmosphere with that somewhat darker interior that befit the place, but very warm and welcoming in the staff and the service providers. I selected the cheese tortellini with pesto cream. It was a most appetising fare, and the bread sticks were hot and fresh, perfect for the leftover sauce on my plate. Many thanks to the chefs and other staff for a pleasant dining experience. Best wishes, success and prosperity to Charlie's and all the employees."

"My experience at 6smith was great! I, along with family and friends went for my Birthday dinner. Arrived on time for our reservation, waited 5-10 min for our table and were seated to left of entry. We ordered drinks and appetizers, waited 15 min for the drinks to be brought out, then ordered food. 15 min later our amazing food came along with the appetizer (which we were expecting before food, “oh well” , and the servers were very informative and knowledgeable. They explained the specials in detail, along with their opinion, which we all appreciated! Over all Great experience. The next day our server called me personally and asked for feedback, I work in customer service and that’s what I call going above and beyond, thanks 6Smith and Lacey! I will definitely be back!"

"We had brunch for our Anniversary. We made reservations for Sunday Brunch, the restaurant was not crowded at all (it was about noon) and the hostess did not even open her reservation list. We were seated immediately. We sat outside and it was a very nice fall day, so the ambiance was most pleasant. The wait service leaned towards the mediocre. The menus were shopworn; they need to reprint the menus which were not complicated, just print on heavy stock paper. We asked for some simple items like butter for our grits which was acknowledged but never appeared. Overall, the staff seemed not to have enthusiasm for their jobs. Our drinks were so-so for a specialty bar, remembering these things are subjective, I would rate them OK. The food was good, not exceptional, but good. AVO has hands down the best grits in town, our experience is that they are consistent with the quality and presentation of their grits. Grits may not be your favorite staple. The eggs were served as ordered, but could have been a lot better. No butter for toast or biscuits, inattentive service on that. I think that this restaurant needs an infusion of enthusiasm. It could be so much better."

"We started our meal with the mussel runners, which were fantastic—definitely one of my favorites. Then came the stone crabs, but they turned out to be quite expensive; three "jumbo" claws cost $140! Unfortunately, I found the stone crabs to be very disappointing. While they looked fresh and clean, they didn't taste or feel like I'd expected. They lacked the sweet flavor I remember enjoying at Joe's, and most of them were quite tough. With each new crab I tried, I hoped the previous one was just a fluke, but that wasn’t the case. Given the high price we paid, it was a major letdown. Would I return to Blue Fin? Yes, I would consider trying another fish dish since they have a nice, upscale atmosphere, and I’d like to give them another chance. However, I won’t be ordering stone crabs again!"

"I had not visited DBT in years and was surprised to see it in its current condition. The waiter was unpleasant (we had to wait a long time before finally getting his attention, and he rudely told us to wait a minute). My friend ordered a salad as a side, but the waiter brought soggy French fries instead. The food was overpriced and not tasty. My quinoa salad had undercooked quinoa and a large amount of raw red onions, which was unappetizing. The music playing was loud and consisted of outdated pop songs, which did not suit the elegant atmosphere at all. We asked for the volume to be lowered, which they did. I had chosen this restaurant for a special celebration with my friend and was embarrassed by my decision."

"The Pink Cabana is lovely. However…… We made a reservation for 4 of us at 5:30 on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was was almost completely empty with servers just standing around. The VERY unfriendly Hostess told us that we couldn’t sit at one of the MANY open tables but had to sit at the bar. The other option she gave us was to sit around the fire pits. It was lightly raining outside and there were no chairs available at the fire pits. Just because we were having drinks and NOT dinner, she would not seat us at a table. Why? Do the servers not want to make money? Does the restaurant want to look pitifully empty? We reluctantly agreed to sit at the bar and a few more people came in the restaurant in the same situation as us-just wanting a cocktail. So that led to eventually many people crammed around the bar asking one bartender for drinks. A bar back then came to help but the whole situation was just awkward and unnecessary. We left after having one drink. Who’s to say if the Hostess would have just allowed people to sit at one of the many empty tables, we would have ordered more drinks, an appetizer, and then stayed for dinner? On their Open Table page, it says that there is a minimum $50 per person food and beverage charge from 5-8:30 pm. Terrible policy! It puts the Hostess in an awkward position by having to tell people about their ridiculous policy and guests getting angry and feeling awkward-and meanwhile, the restaurant remains empty."

"We always try to make it to FOOW when visiting I personally love the relaxed ambiance and consistent quality of the food. This was our last visit before what was described to us as a month, million dollar renovation. The Watercolor Inn has always been upscale but this sounds like things will be going to a whole new level. Can't wait to try it when completed around May In the mean time we highly recommend you try the Snapper or Lobster in squid ink pasta and a souffle for dessert so you can make your own before and after comparisons"

"Good things come to those who book reservations. Couldn't have asked for a better pre birthday celebration. Impeccable service, beautiful presentations of delicious food, and the clientele is ever so amusing and entertaining. We also got to witness owner and chef George Reis host his wedding rehearsal dinner on the patio. Started the celebration off with a glass of prosecco and a dozen oysters ranging from the Olde Points, Blue Points, and Blackberry varieties. Then moved to the scallops and yellowtail snapper. The entire fish comes out on the platter so have an appetite ready! The starlight of the evening was definitely the chocolate panna cotta, the brownie brittle is to die for, though if you want something richer order the oatmeal cheesecake. Parking can get limited since it's near the hustle and bustle of downtown Five Points. They offer valet parking for your ease. Nothing beats that unforgettable feeling of good company and summer nights with a glass of wine and dessert sitting before you. Thank you for ushering in my birthday wishes Ocean!"

"We visited this restaurant for the first time on Mother's Day, and it was surprisingly not busy at all, with plenty of open tables and no wait time. We ordered Steak and Eggs, but unfortunately, our food arrived cold, and the eggs appeared to be powdered. The staff took our plates back, but less than two minutes later, they returned the same dish with just some brown topping on the eggs, and the food was still not warm. When we spoke to the manager, he told us that this was the best they could do and asked if we wanted to change our order. Frustrated, we decided to leave. With so few customers, we expected much better quality food. The steak was served sliced with some sauce on it, which was not appealing at all. Overall, it was a disappointing experience."

"Overall it was a pleasant visit, the food and ambiance were both very good, there were just two snags. One, the music that was playing was WAY too loud, to the point that trying to talk when it was playing was a challenge. For some reason there was this odd gap between songs, which we kind of joked must be intentional to give people a chance to say something before the next song started. The other issue was our waitress. She didn't really do anything wrong, just kinda seemed like she didn't really want to be there. If you're going to be a good waitress, you gotta learn to fake that kind of thing and put your game face on when you're at work (or if you really just can't, do the patrons a favor and call in sick). The food and drinks were very good, the prices were reasonable and the décor was nice, overall it was a cute place so we'll probably give it another shot at some point, but hopefully the music will be a little softer and our waitress will smile from time to time."
