"My favorite restaurant, and it appears it just became our friends ' favorite as well. A good looking building in a beautiful bay view location, with plenty of parking. Wait staff are always friendly, pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive. The mixed drinks are thoughtfully created, perfectly executed, boozy, and full of flavor. And then there 's the food ahhh, the food. Exquisite! In so many restaurants the brazed short rib is often a bit dry. I needed no knife to break into this remarkably plump, tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious hunk of boneless meat, floating on a bed of splendidly seasoned mashed potatoes, tender carrots and mushrooms, and wilted baby kale, all nicely glazed with a lovely red wine demi that was eyes rolling in the back of your head delicious. The saying You get what you pay for is sometimes true, and other times you 're saying I could 've just as good if not better myself or They do it better at _____ restaurant. However I believe it 's properly priced at the Boathouse in comparison to any other fine dining. Then again, the way things have been for the past few years, to say you 're getting more than what you 're paying for isn 't a stretch. About $30 ish per plate (braised short rib $36 and there are lower cost sandwiches, though still a bit pricey, but guaranteed to be delectable; the most expensive entree was the $55 filet mignon. My intent dining this time was to finish off with a coffee desert mixed drink (w/espresso, Bailey 's, Kahula, which currently isn 't listed on the online menu, but is in the restaurant, and it 's unbelievably yummy but I was still feeling good from the Harbor Cask rum drink I had earlier. So instead my wife and I finished off with a Vanilla Chai Creme Brulee, with blackberries and spiced honeycomb that was very tasty, though she said she liked a grapenut creme brulee that she got the previous time. This was our 2nd visit to the Boathouse, but we 're planning on many more. I just have to save up my allowance for a bit :"

"We had attended the cape Chorale concert (as did many others) and wanted to extend the fun by having dinner at the Belfry. many of us had never been here and I grateful that someone in the group knew to recommend it. The location is easy to find and there is ample on the street parking as well as a large parking area behind the building. Those who are physically challenged can use the ramp to the side door entry. The front door entry way is small, but don't let that both you because when you turn the corner you will be in a very large dining area. The tables near the fire looked inviting but our friend had reserved a small dining room for us. Our server was personable and professional and let us linger over menu selections. I think he might have been the only person on for the evening but that was okay as we did not want to be rushed. They offer wine by the glass as well as by the bottle and they have a nice list of cocktails. Just about everyone had some sort of wine except me as I am usually the DD. The appetizer list was obviously appealing as everyone ordered one. We ordered the faux gras and it was superb. Others ordered the shrimp and avocado which would have been my second choice. The dinner menu is nice selection of various seafood, meat and poultry. I went with the duck as I don't cook this at home so I like to get iy whenever i can. My wife ordered the steak. Others ordered the cod, the lamb or the beef dish. The duck was two large legs and prepared crispy although the meat was very tender and moist. My wife's steak was superb. One of the tastiest I have had on the Cape. I was tempted to ask who they get their beef from but it slipped my mind. The cod looked fabulous as did the lamb. No real dinner envy tonight. None of us selected a dessert but we still lingered to finish up conversations etc. This will definitely be on the list of places for special dinners for special occasions. We enjoyed the ride home to South Yarmouth as many of the giants were lit up for the evening."

"While the hardcover has some nice dishes, it lacks the basic consistency that would make it a solid 4 star restaurant. Firstly, service was good- our waiter was nice and prompt, and the staff seemed friendly. The location itself inside the restaurant is a bit cramped but cozy. Its definitely loud inside at busy times. The salad bar and bread in my opinion are underwhelming for a restaurant of this price range. While the self serve style is in theory a nice idea, it reminded me a lot of the corner of my college dining hall (nothing against salad bars, I just think they could do something more with it). I wish the bread was warmer or toasted or something. The beef Wellington was very good. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, flavorful and perfectly sized. For people specifically looking for a wellington I would recommend this place. The teriyaki steak is also good. Sadly, while the baked chicken was good, the linguini served it had too much pasta and too little sauce. This made it a chore to eat (though the asparagus and mushroom paired well). The salmon was sort of bland-i’d like to say good meat will stand on its own but it appeared to be “seasoned with air”. Not tragic but not inspiring. The baked haddock was nice. I understand the value of simplicity but the boiled vegetables and baked potatoes weren’t really doing it for me at this price of restaurant. I understand this isnt quite fine dining, but I would expect some more consistency and refinement for this type of restaurant. I was happy about the beef wellington though!"
