"My husband and I took some clients for a business dinner as they have never been here before. Mind you this bill totaled $600 at the end of our meal. Certainly not cheap for a strip mall location. We were NOT down on 5th Avenue or 3rd Street but we knew that going in. We wanted to take them someplace they’ve never been. We all ordered steaks one well-done, one medium well, and two medium. Thinking this is a Steakhouse, we assumed that they could do the temperatures to our liking and get them right. That was not the case. Another person brought our meals so he had no idea which ones went to which people which I thought was ridiculous. We had to sit there and tell him where to put each plate. We were told they came with mashed potatoes but instead they had some kind of potato wedges. My one guest said “Where’s my mashed potatoes?” and the waitress said “oh we were out of them”, but never asked us if we wanted a replacement of something different before she brought out what she did. My steak tasted like sawdust I couldn’t even cut it. The waitress came by and seemed angry that I wanted to send it back. I would have just said don’t make me another one but I was really looking forward to a good steak. Considering the steak is $75 I would think that it would’ve been right in the first place? They brought the steak back for a second time and it was rare. Almost **** rate, the manager stood over me while I cut it and I said that he could just take it back because the other three people had already almost finished their meal at this point.Gaga was our waitress, and she seemed very annoyed the whole time. My husband wanting to be taken care of gave her a $20 bill from the start. We never got an apology on our steaks and they had left it on the bill. She came over and brought us one piece of Tiramisu for the four of us to share which I guess she thought would make up for the $75 steak.Definitely won’t be recommending this place to anyone and I think their prices are out of line. I’m happy to pay for a good steak but with that kind of treatment and service it won’t be here. Very sad that a manager doesn’t even compensate someone back or even apologize."

"For our second visit, the host and staff cordially seated us in the dining room, attended to us promptly and afforded us a personal visit from the friendly owner. We had read that alcoholic beverages are now being served, a wonderful and anticipated change from our first visit. Bottled water with a basket of pita and chopped marinated red pepper were offered as a complimentary starter while we reviewed the options for our meals. The menu is extensive and the portions are ample. For an appetizer, my wife I enjoyed authentic falafel with humus and arugula accompanied with a sour cream topping. Unlike what we’ve eaten in other restaurants that serve this delicacy, our appetizer was savory, nicely presented and tasted better than any we’ve had in the Capital District. For our main dishes, my wife, a vegetarian, had the eggplant salad platter with baby baked potatoes, cherry tomatoes, ample cheese topping and a sizable green salad. My dinner meal was the branzino filets, delicately and artfully arranged mashed potatoes and a green salad. Both meals were served on large plates and very hot. Neither plate had any leftovers! Completing our meal were a serving of pistachio baklava and a pot of decaffeinated rooibos tea. The ambiance and excellent service by Sean made for an extremely favorable impression on us during this follow up visit. Needless to say, we highly recommend this restaurant, and we’ll be back!"

"Finally had the chance to dine at The Bootlegger Italian Bistro in Las Vegas. This place has a rich history that dates back to the early 1900s, when the grandparents of Chef Maria Perry migrated from Italy to Canada and became known as The Bootlegger for serving homemade wine during the prohibition era. Chef Maria and her husband Al Perry moved to Las Vegas in 1943 and opened their first restaurant in 1949, serving the legends of Hollywood and Las Vegas such as Howard Hughes, Frank Sinatra, Liberace, Elvis Presley and many others. Their daughter Lorraine, a singer and entertainer, joined them in 1972 to build The Bootlegger on her land at Tropicana and Eastern. Today, four generations of this dedicated Italian family continue the legacy of providing the finest food, drink, hospitality and entertainment to their guests. The service was impeccable. Our server was smooooth, absolutely loved him he was friendly, attentive and witty. He recommended some of the best dishes on the menu, such as the Burrata. He also brought us some of the panetti italiana (garlic bread) with dipping sauce, so delicious. He made sure that our drinks were always refilled and that we had everything we needed. The food was delicious. Everything was fresh, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous and satisfying. For dessert, we had the chocolate cake which was heavenly. The Bootlegger Italian Bistro is a historic Las Vegas landmark that offers a great dining experience. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, with photos of celebrities and memorabilia on the walls. The live music is entertaining and lively. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine and wants to enjoy a taste of old Vegas."
