"I love University Place: the cute shops like William and Wayne, Ralph Lauren's Rugby and now I stumbled upon Luke's Lobster(yay! . But I was in the mood for this corner diner on 11th that was cute and cozy--yikes! It's gone! I kept walking because I was in the mood for soup especially on a cold winter day such as today. Then I passed Nanoosh and perused their menu posted on the window. I entered and was told to sit anywhere. I was quickly greeted by my server who served me water and an amuse bouche: a pita triangle with diced kalamata olives, my fave olives from Greece. Delicious! I studied the menu; I was famished and could have ordered one of each. Nice selection of salads: Arugula with carrots, raisins, walnuts and dried cranberries. There's Greek and avocado and lentil. Today's special soup was butternut squash, my fave, which I ordered. There are hummus bowls which comes in original or roasted pepper hummus: one standout is masabaha: warm chickpeas, pickled jalapeños, cilantro hot sauce and lemon parsley tahini. Their wraps feature marinated chicken, falafel and Mediterranean beef. Then there's the power plate where you choose your base: hummus or basmati/ turmeric rice then your protein such as chicken, falafel or beef and 2 toppings: tahini,Baba Nanoosh, lentil salad etc. I will try this next time. So here's my order: butternut squash soup: velvety, rich and creamy. You can get small or large. Then I really wanted falafel which was risky because they put quinoa in the mix which I'm not a fan of but decided to gamble. I ordered a side of hummus tahini and falafel which comes with gluten free pita. The hummus was savory and fresh. Here comes the disappointment: yep the falafel. I like my falafel deep fried and a little spicy. I think the quinoa does nothing for it. But I ate it all and it was very filling. For dessert I had a little slice of baklava heaven. What a great indulgence especially with honey dotted on the side for dipping. The service is accommodating, courteous and super friendly. The restaurant is clean, warm and inviting. Nanoosh caters and has other locations.Seriously need to open in Brooklyn. I shall return!"
