"I have been missing the food and atmosphere in Waikiki lately, and this place truly brought me back to the relaxing ocean breeze, comfort food, and tropical vibes of Hawaii! I had a lovely time here with my family, and we all loved the food, drinks, and service! Shoutout to Danielle for being such a wonderful server. FOOD Chicken lettuce wraps: These were a bit messy to eat but very good! The lettuce was very fresh and was a great way to start our meal. Papaya salad: We LOVED this dish!! The balance between the greens, papaya, lychee, and macadamia nuts was so delightful and refreshing. Hawaiian Mochiko chicken: The chicken was so tender and well seasoned! The veggies on the side were also great, and my grandma really enjoyed the healthy option. DRINKS Mermaid's Kiss: This drink was refreshing and strong! It wasn't super sweet, which was perfect. Painkiller: This drink was also pretty strong, and I really enjoyed it! Would highly recommend ordering both of these drinks. SERVICE The service here is amazing, and what I was most impressed by is that they knew we would be doing family style rather than having individual entrees. They brought out extra plates for us, no questions asked. It made me feel that the staff here are culturally competent and mindful, and I really appreciated that! Thank you for a fantastic experience, and I'll definitely be back!"

"Aloha to everyone out there reading this review. As I am a HUGE fan of Hawaiian BBQ, I stumbled across this family owned and operation business in the Greenhaven/Pocket area of Sacramento. This is none other than Hawaiian Boys BBQ (formerly known as Kings BBQ). Located directly on Florin Rd. and adjacent to S. Land Park Dr., this place has been opened since September 2020. I met up with one of my good friends here for lunch at 12:30pm on the afternoon of 9/3/2021. Fortunately, indoor seating was allowed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Since I am no stranger to Hawaiian food, I had a pretty good idea what I wanted to order. This was none other than their most popular entrée, the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken complete with a side of brown rice, spinach salad, and an orange wedge. My buddy ordered a Hawaiian classic, their Loco Moco which included two hamburger patties, two fried eggs, gravy, and a side of macaroni salad steamed veggies. Since they were not too busy during our visit, both our orders were prepared and ready in less than 10 minutes. While I enjoyed the amount of marinated chicken in my entrée, the sauce part was just a little too salty for me. I know adding salt always adds flavor to food but this had just a little too much. My friend also loved how big his Loco Moco was but again, he complained of too much salt in the gravy. This was not a deal breaker but I hope the balance of seasonings is made more efficiently. As many people in the Sacramento area know, we have very well-known and popular Hawaiian BBQ places that many of us go to; mainly L L and Ono which has multiple locations. This place just didn 't do it for me; the service was great and prices are around the same amount as their competition. But I don 't think I will be returning here anytime soon; every though they 're 5 minutes from work. My rating for Hawaiian Boys BBQ , just an average 3- stars."
