"The ambiance is wonderful—it's dimly lit and has a charming New York/speakeasy vibe, with flashing black and white images on velvet curtains, a neon sign, and dark walls. It's really adorable and certainly not what you'd expect to find in Ventnor, which makes it even more special. We need more places like this in South Jersey, as it seems like every option around is just Italian with flatbreads and pasta.
The service was excellent; the host doubled as our waitress. Despite the fact that people were waiting for tables, we never felt rushed, which is a common issue at many local restaurants. We had plenty of time to enjoy our whole bottle of wine, engage in great conversation, and have a lovely date night.
Now, the food was outstanding. I was already impressed with the generous portions of arugula (I can’t get enough of it), but the dates were incredible—perfectly balancing salty, sweet, and smoky flavors. We also tried the tartine, which was uniquely delicious. My boyfriend had the short rib, which he adored and was cooked to perfection. I opted for the veal and eggplant, and it was fantastic.
For dessert, we shared apple pie with ice cream, which was good but not exceptional. That said, I would absolutely come back to try everything else on the menu. Overall, I would rate this restaurant a solid 10/10!"
