"The place itself is nothing to write at home. It is dark with very modest decor. The server was very attentive and helpful as it was our first time to eat Russian food. The vodka shots were delicious, but they ran out of the one we most liked after two shots (jalapeño and honey). The appetizers were very delicious and the Borscht was also very good. We ordered two main courses (the chicken kewer and the sturgeon), but they were very bland, not worth the effort. We haven't been offered desserts, so we don't know if there is at all. At some point a big party came and sat at the table next to us and then is when the really loud music and flashing lights that began to dazzle us that made with a conversation almost impossible. As an American without experience in Russian or Eastern European cuisine, my opinion is that it is a decent place for appetizers and a few shots of dilute vodka. The only other table we saw during the 3 hours we were there on a Saturday evening, was this huge party of Russians or Eastern European people and a party that went on in the opposite part of the restaurant, which could be an indicator of the authenticity of the kitchen and a place only for people who really know and appreciate this food."

"Great time with friends at this trendy restaurant. It had a great vibe with lots of energy. The first thing you notice when you enter the restaurant is all the crispy Peking duck hanging in the front window. The restaurant was busy but organized. The food was flavourful and great for sharing. We enjoyed the different dishes but highly recommend the Peking duck tacos as they appear to be a specialty. The waitress was helpful with regards to clarifying the menu and making suggestions."

"Be sure to get there before if you want to participate in happy hour. Not but As whiskey drinkers, we try to be aware of pricing on stuff when buying by the ounce. So, a ounce drink increased to a ounce pour should be times the price of the ounce drink. Expect to pay more. Some bars charge a standard rocks charge, for example. Not this place. Haven't quite figured out their formula, if they have one. As a customer, if the waiter says I can substitute one vegetable for another, it would help if they also mentioned there would be a upcharge. Total discrepancies were a little over Not a huge deal, but it unnecessarily leaves a bad taste after an otherwise great dinner. Beet salad was absolutely one of the best salads I have ever had. Waitress was pleasant and helpful (other than previously mentioned). Steak, lox, salmon were all excellent. Surprised it wasn't busier. Diners are missing out on a very (mostly) enjoyable experience."

"Had a wonderfully tasty meal there recently with a group of friends. The appetizers and entrees were all fantastic, fresh and full of interesting taste pairings. The Humboldt Fog was impeccably served, as was the Hen of the Woods. Entrees were hearty and delicious. The service was a little off; we were disappointed to have been stuck in the lounge (read: bar) area despite having made reservations a month in advance. The main dining area was much prettier. Our waiter was competent but never cracked a smile, didn 't try to explain any specials or menu items to us. The oddest thing was when he brought our cocktails to the table one by one, as they were being made by the bartender. Correcting small details like this will elevate Ella 's immensely. Besides that, I can 't wait to go back and try their spring menu! Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4"

"Experience was amazing. We set up a reservation through Google but for some reason, the restaurant did not get our reservation but the staff was very kind and they still made effort to quickly find a table for us despite the reservation that disappeared. Escargot was delicious. My wife got the beef tenderloin which was delicious and I got the hanger steak which was fantastic. We finished it off with creme brulee and the chocolate covered profiterole. Definitely will be coming back again for another special occasion to try other things on the menu. This restaurant is a local gem."

"The old joke comes to mind: I have had some great meals at Nana's but this was not it It is still quite good but recently has seemed not up to it's usual standards. The menu has suffered from trying too hard to be on some cutting edge. This particular meal had nothing on the appetizer list that sounded appetizing. I settled for a lettuce salad that I thought was safe but it turned out to be too spicy, (not something you expect from lettuce) and no charm or appeal. The entree of baked chicken is their signature dish and in the past has been stellar. This time is was OK, still tender and juicy but it was served on a bed of tired greens and overcooked broccoli. Even the bread was a bit overdone by being way too salty. The mashed potatoes were fine as usual however. Desserts are often excellent but the offering of apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream was a failure. The apples were tough and chewy; the blackberries had little flavor. The crumble turned out to be a granola-like topping that really needed some cinnamon or other flavoring to give the dish some appeal. So sadly this meal has dropped Nana's down the list of worth the price paid and it is a bit of a puzzle to explain what happened. None of the dishes really merited being returned to the kitchen but the overall impression was that next time other Durham choices should move to the top of the list."

"I would rate this restaurant a solid 5 stars. It features a pleasant and straightforward layout, along with a large menu that I thoroughly enjoyed exploring. I kicked off my meal with the signature sandwich, but there are numerous other enticing options to consider. The drink selection is impressive, particularly the Boba tea, which I can’t wait to try on my next visit. I'm also eager to taste the steam balls. The sandwich was reasonably priced and quite satisfying; it had a remarkably fresh taste! "The most incredible dining experience from start to finish! I highly recommend getting reservations outside if it’s a nice day. They have a gorgeous garden setting. The waitress we had was phenomenal. We ordered the shrimp cocktail for the appetizer, which had the most delicious cocktail sauce. It was a light and refreshing way to start the meal! We also had the meatloaf, along with the steak and scallops special of the evening. The steak melted in our mouth and the scallops had a delicious lemon sauce over it. They made our wedding anniversary very special. Kudos to the chef!!!! We will be back!"

"today no cook was Friday, so we were looking for a place we never tried. we made an early reservation and had the place almost for ourselves. when escargot are on a menu, I order them and they have not disappointed. enough for a light meal that they are seasoned well, but not overwhelmed by garlic butter. very tasty. the tuna steak (8oz plate from sashimi grad thunfisch) on a pesto basis was amazing. my wife got the mixed grill with steak, golf shrimp, huh with roasted vegetables and thin cut scaled kartoffels. great taste, not overwhelming, really fresh. in everything we will return definitiw, but next time we bring a bottle of wine. it is byob. well done servers"

"eating was very good. burger could have been the best piece of meat. certainly the best burger. I have eaten some time, including a much overpriced steak at flemings (a different story for another review). my wife had the jambone and somego cheese, which was very tasty. the suppe of the day was a squash bisque, which was also very good. we were there for lunch. limited menu, but all our selections were much above average to very good. our trouble. when one of the burgers came out, was boiled incorrectly and sent back. it took literally minutes with a constant request to get the exchange. while all others finished their meal at the table. not sure why, but this has transformed a star food facility for the four of us overall."

"I kicked off my meal with the escargots, which were expertly cooked and drenched in a creamy garlic sauce. For my main dish, I chose the steak frites au Poivre, which was cooked to perfection and paired with a delightful black peppercorn cream. To cap off my meal, I indulged in the crème brûlée, which was rich, creamy, and featured a perfectly caramelized crust. The food at Taix is simply exceptional. "An absolutely terrible experience. Our server was awful. We had a 7:30 reservation and nearly 1/4 of the menu was unavailable. One in our party ordered the last pasta only to be told 30 minutes, at 8:30 that they had run out. The server also announced that there were two burgers left that the chef likes to make a few each night for kids (manchego and tomato jam on a burger for kids?? a rude comment which is unnecessary to those ordering a burger. No beans, No burgers, No pasta and 30 minutes later after taking our order we were left to reorder. Same story at desert we ordered lemon verbena gelato only to find out ten minutes later, no lemon verbena gelato. The food that we did get was unremarkable two entree's were dry and flavorless. Not at all impressed with Nina June and most specifically the service. Sad for what could be an incredible place."

"eating was phenomenal. we tried the fired curtains, they are great and so was the Slave of the Lawrence that came with him (although the Slavic was very sharp for my mitwest taste). I got the ruck chicken (on spicy level 3) and my wife got chicken curry (on spicy level 3). we both loved our meals, the huh was very delicate and tasteful. the spiciness at 3 was about what we both wanted, it seemed appropriate. (they don't get a carribean food and then want to blande the creole cheesecake was also very good. the service was incredible and the atmosphere was very welcoming and had a lot of natural light. we had a great lunch."

"My family has been dining at Pine Tavern for many years. On our most recent visit, we sat on the patio and enjoyed the perfect temperature with a gentle breeze. We were a group of six people. Unfortunately, the Rueben sandwich was quite dry, lacking in 1,000 Island dressing. Additionally, one member of our party ordered ginger ale and was surprised to find out that refills were not complimentary and was charged for a second drink. We all agreed that the server should have clarified that this was a beverage from the bar and not included in the free refills. Despite these mishaps, we still had a lovely time together."
