"eating was very good. burger could have been the best piece of meat. certainly the best burger. I have eaten some time, including a much overpriced steak at flemings (a different story for another review). my wife had the jambone and somego cheese, which was very tasty. the suppe of the day was a squash bisque, which was also very good. we were there for lunch. limited menu, but all our selections were much above average to very good. our trouble. when one of the burgers came out, was boiled incorrectly and sent back. it took literally minutes with a constant request to get the exchange. while all others finished their meal at the table. not sure why, but this has transformed a star food facility for the four of us overall."

We've been to Mateo twice, and I feel like I fall a little harder for this place each time.

This was my first time at Mateo, but not my friends' first by any means, so I felt super safe trying this place out.

I got it here. I enjoyed the crispy and luscious croquetas, pan con tamate y jamon, and the sea bass crudo on special. the cocktail (seville) was great as the albariño. super friendly and attentive staff. shout to the barkeepers working Saturday 2/26/22. thank you! View menu

really great eating, fantastic atmosphere. we sat up, which was a little less busy, so it was nice. We liked everything we have, but the real winners for me were the Pimento cheese and the meatballs. my wife loved the pan and tomate so much she went back just for it.

This was our first Tapas dining experience. The food was very good and it was fun picking a larger variety of food in smaller portion (tapas) plates to share!! Our Server was also knowledgeable and very helpful when selecting menu options and how many to order for our party of six.

Loved some of the dishes a lot especially the picked sardines, duck confit, and pulpo. We also ordered the bone marrow, shrimp, and serano ham but they were just good, didn't wow us like the other 2. Would recommend we paid 140 for 2 people dinner plus 2 drinks and left very satisfied. Would recommend! View menu

The best food I had in Durham! Atún tuna tartar, blue crab thingy was good for me a seafood lover. Pulpo, the octopus with inky black olive aioli was perfectly cooked! The other were also excellent. Even though they are expensive, I’d still recommend it to anyone who loves seafood and small elegante dishes. Oh right, the male waiter was super friendly and patiently explained everything to us.

Revisiting this place was long overdue. I don't think there was anything we disliked in the 2 hours we spent at this wonderful place. Wine selection was great and the cocktails didn't disappoint. The tapas were exceptional and the paella was as you would expect. Meat and cheese selections were limited but didn't disappoint. Service was spot on. We love this place. Dine in, take out, it's just awesome.
