"If you are in Nashville for a day, you must go for dinner to the Midtown Cafe. The place has been here for 30 years and once you eat here you will understand why. If you by yourself sit at the bar. Gina will welcome you with a warm and pretty smile. To start I recommend the Lemon Artichoke soap. The soup has been on the menu since the day the restaurant opened. A wonderful combination of bitter ness balanced with a touch of paprika. Next you must have the "Seared Dayboay Sea Scallops", served with lobster Brie Mac and Cheese, asparagus and a white lobster cream sauce. Save room some room for jalapeño bread pudding. Yeap jalapeño and bread pudding and vanilla ice cream. While writing this review the whole bar area has filled with people waiting for a table. Make sure you get here early. Actually I am coming back for breakfast!"

"Our waitress was very busy with multiple tables but she handled us perfectly!. My fish and baked potato came out cold but she took care of it pronto! The only complaint we have as a group was that we sat in a booth by a window and it was very cold sitting by the window. A stiff breeze was coming through and it was very obvious the stone window sills were not caulked. Simple fix for sure hopefully they take care of it very soon."

"The truffle fries were tasty, though I would have preferred the parmesan to be melted a bit more; I would rate them a solid 7.9/10. The basil aioli was delightful—perfectly salty with a nice basil flavor that wasn't overwhelming, earning a strong 9.3/10. The Orange Moscato was also impressive at 9.4/10. The house-made bread served with honey butter was enjoyable, although it had a hint of banana flavor that I wasn’t particularly fond of. Still, I’d give it a solid 8.9/10. The baby kale salad was refreshing and just the right portion; it was filling without being too much, so I’d rate it a perfect 10/10. Overall, I would definitely return to try more dishes. A big thank you to Claire for making our meal so enjoyable!"

"My family of four when for a late lunch/early dinner here on May 20, 2022. We ordered spaghetti, buffalo sandwich, ravioli, pizza and dessert. My daughter commented the ravioli was very good; the pizza honestly was the best pizza I have had in a very long time. I was so happy we ventured to this establishment. The wait staff was very friendly and atmosphere of the restaurant was quiet and cozy. Great experience!"

"I am never disappointed with the food. Great seafood trio. Italian feast got a bit chinsy though. The service is hit or miss though. Sometimes everyone is spot on, quick seating, quick order taking, refills on time, etc. Then, other times, the waitress is very scarce, and last time I went MY waitress was relatively good. But, as a whole, the restaurant disappointed. A couple came in after me to wait for a table, with a packed house. 45 minute wait. A waitress they knew came up immediately and took them to her section, despite the lobby being full of other couples waiting to be seating with a 45 minute wait time. Clearly, here, the waitresses can pick and choose when they get a table and who they wait on. When I waited tables there was an order the hostess followed and we were not allowed to do such thing. Who wants to wait longer to eat because you don't know the waitresses personally, and those that do go first?"

"The chicken and waffles I ordered were incredibly dry and tasteless. The dish is supposed to come with honey garlic sauce, but when I picked up my order, the container felt almost empty. Upon opening it, I discovered only two waffles and two chicken fingers with barely any sauce—definitely not enough for the $17 price tag. It was so dry that I had to add something just to make it edible. I really missed the honey garlic sauce, especially since I've enjoyed delicious chicken and waffles at other places before. I was genuinely disappointed and won't be ordering this again. As for my husband's steak, which he asked to be medium rare, it came out well done—dry, bland, and quite small without any cheese. At $19, it certainly wasn’t worth it. The salt potatoes he ordered were also lacking in flavor. Overall, this dinner felt like a waste of money and has made me rethink dining here in the future. We usually go there once a week or more, but now we might have to find a new place. The only reason I gave two stars is that my daughter enjoyed her burger."

"We stayed at a nearby AirBnB and it was recommended we eat a Nobu, Mastros, or Vs. We had just landed on a Tuesday and wanted to eat in so we ordered pickup. I got the pork chop and spouse got the risotto. I have to tell you, the pork chop may have been the best pork chop I have ever eaten. On top of this, V personally greeted me and we had a great conversation. You could tell he truly cared about his customers. For 2 days all I craved was this amazing pork chop and mushroom sauce. We ordered again tonight because I was craving the pork chop (and we fly home tomorrow but this time it wasn't as good. I don't know if it's a different chef on Fridays vs Tuesday but the pork chop was undercooked and the mushroom sauce was watered down. I also didn't see V in the restaurant so maybe they weren't on their game. Spouse got the Jidori chicken and said it was great. At the end of the day I had one of the best pork chops I have ever eaten....but it failed to meet my expectations the second time. Maybe an off night, maybe a different chef, who knows. I do recommend this place (just on Tuesdays ."

"The restaurant was conveniently located for us and the menu looked good. When we arrived they had no means of checking a reservation and didn't have a table ready for us. It took about 15 minutes for anyone to greet our table at all, so we were able to already decide on our dinner by the first time a server talked to us. It then took another 25-30 minutes for our dinner to arrive. We had a Caesar salad, sliders, and lobster mac and cheese and I wouldn't order any of it again. The beer was good and it seemed like a fun place. There was live music that was really good, but the whole place was so loud it was impossible to have a conversation."

"Crab dip was subpar but steamed shrimp was awesome. Server never cleared the table before bringing out more food. Then the runner looked confused when I asked her to remove the dirty plates first. My husband noticed the building was under negative air pressure caused from Kitchen hood exhaust (kitchen saloon doors sucked in) causing hot humid exterior air to rush into the restaurant when the exterior doors would open. Sit away from doors if you want A/C. Outdoor seating looked nice and led to long pier on the water."

"I’ve had their ribeye, but the last two times I’ve went I just couldn’t help but get the filet with bernaise sauce and blue crab. The asparagus is always a nice touch but the taters are always freaking gooooooooddddddddddd(cont). It’s fancy enough to hold its price but not so much that it drops its charm. "The staff at Refuge truly exceeded our expectations during a special event my family organized. My son proposed to his girlfriend in the restaurant's courtyard, and they went above and beyond to make it memorable. Prior to the proposal, the band was already set up and played wonderful music to enhance the celebration. Once she said yes, we were escorted to a lovely table in a quiet area of the restaurant, where the exceptional service continued throughout the evening. "I asked to be seated at 11:23 The manager on duty said yes and walked away. I sat myself. He did not give me a menu or even ask if I’d like a glass of water. I had to ask a kitchen worker if I could have a drink or a menu. It was 7 minutes until open. Allowing a customer to sit in your restaurant and walk away is awful and poor service. 12:38 rolled around and still no one on the floor. Knowing you just sat a customer 15 minutes prior . Still nothing. No menu and not one employee on the floor. I walked out of the restaurant, found a kitchen worker on his cell phone in the outside area. He went and got the manager. He was cocky and rude and had zero cares in the works that there was a upset customer. He shrugged it off and said well we weren’t open. Sorry and rolled his eyes. He did not try to make it right at all . Absolutely awful customer service. I am a server and I am at the table within 2 minutes. I will never return."
