"When the hostess asked how many were in my party, I replied, "just one." Her demeanor shifted immediately. "Do you want to order to go?" she inquired. I explained that I wanted to dine in. She responded, "Well, we are really busy." I offered to sit outside or wait, but she replied that it would likely take a long time and that the outdoor seating was closed, despite others being outside.
I insisted, explaining that I had been driving for days and just wanted to sit down for a hot meal, regardless of how long it took. Reluctantly, she agreed and led me outside to a table. After what felt like an eternity, I finally placed my order. Once I finished my meal, I waited even longer—at least 30 minutes—for my check. The waitress seemed uninterested and distracted, as though she had more important matters to attend to.
Although I probably shouldn't have tipped given the service, I still left a generous tip as I walked out. This experience stood out as the only truly negative part of my extensive road trip; everywhere else I had stopped, people were friendly and welcoming—except here."
