"I'll start off by saying that unfortunately I'm not surprised by the behavior of the staff at Metrograph. This place is a hub for entitled white film buffs who truly believe they're doing something. I digress. I came here last night for my colleague and friend's screening for an artist series. A group of us decided to stay and celebrate after at the bar/restaurant area upstairs. We asked for a table and when I say the two women working hesitated when we asked, i'd be downplaying their behavior. They really did not want to give us a table. Keep in mind they weren't busy and had plenty of tables available. Here is where I should say that our group was mainly black and brown folks. They gave us the table with a one hour time limit as a reservation was coming in. Guess what? No reservation came in. They were rude to us throughout the entirety of the evening. Were they sweet to the white handsome skater looking guys who filled the rest of the room? You bet! Disgusting. When the check came the two ladies advised that they could not split the check. With persuading and help from us, they finally agreed to do it. They also added 20% gratuity without even informing us. We would've given them 20% anyway, and I understand it for a large party, but they should've informed us when we sat at the table. The optics are bad. I'm disappointed and grossed out to say the least. I can only chalk this up to discrimination and blatant racism. Again, I'm not surprised. But you'd think that they'd treat the person who just had a program there a little better. We were a group of artists and art world professionals. Unfortunately, I think if they knew that they would've treated us a little better. You guys need to do better at creating an inclusive and respectful space white self proclaimed film buffs aren't the only people who love cinema."

"Day 2 on our itinerary had us going to Redwood for breakfast. When planning the itinerary, I found Redwood as one of the top rated breakfast/brunch establishments on Yelp. With three rumbling (hungry) tummies, we made the 20 minute drive to the restaurant. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by an employee who sat us outside (per our request), turned on the table heater (it was a fairly nippy morning), and provided menus. Roughly five minutes later our friendly server (I cannot recall her name) came by to provide us with waters, coffee, and to take our orders. Per our server 's recommendation, I ordered the Bacon Arugula Scramble with a Redwood Original (one of the beauties of being on vacation is being able to have a morning bourbon). My wife ordered the famous loaded hash browns with a **** Mary, and my son ordered the Fresh Mozzarella scramble with a hot chocolate. Approximately 15 minutes later our visually appealing orders were being delivered to our table. My son absolutely loved his order, which was doused in ketchup (I remember having a phase as a child where I put ketchup on everything). Also, his hot chocolate with a birthday cake-ish froth was absolutely delicious (he allowed me to have a sip). As for my wife and I...our food looked good, but did not taste the part. Everything was fresh, but the food lacked seasoning. I understand that some folks prefer to season their food with what is available at their table; however, the kind of seasoning that I am referring to needs to be done during the preparation of the meal. Although the food was not as good as it could have been, overall we were satisfied with our experience and the customer service provided. Our server was very attentive and did a great job of checking in on us without hovering. I can 't say that we would return to this establishment, but I also believe that sometimes cooks have an off day."
