"I meant to make to this restaurant for their notorious and famous fried chicken. It was so cute when entering and made me think of New York and New Jersey-style mom-and-pop Italian eateries I'd go to as a kid. It was a warm, inviting, lively ambiance upon being seated. Our waitress greeted us quickly despite it being packed and all seats being occupied. The dining room had a low light with candles on each table, which was a comforting and relaxed dining atmosphere. We started with the incredible calamari. It was fried perfectly with a fantastic house red (marinara sauce. I got the penne alla vodka and wished it had peas or meat on it, but otherwise, it was still terrific. My guest got the smothered bone in 20 oz pork chop with caramelized onions and rice pilaf. We added a small order of fried chicken, two pieces, I believe, with jojos (large coated potato wedges. My pasta dish was quickly 3-4 meals in one, and after the calamari and my house salad, I think the house ranch was homemade and tasted better than my go too which is Hidden Valley! I only had a small amount and was indeed so full. I did take a bite of the chicken and of a Jo Jo. The chicken is out of this world. So lightly breaded and cooked to perfection while flavorful and so juicy inside. I did try dark meat, which is my preference when eating poultry, but I can imagine how this was prepared. Any type of meat would be outstanding. I will definitely you be back for the chicken alone and the fantastic service we received. I cannot say enough good things about this local landmark!"

"Dinamo Ratings: 4.2/5 Food: 4.5/5 I had a date night with my boyfriend here, and we both had a great time. I wanted to try their famous squid ink fettucine, and it definitely didn't let me down. Dinamo lived up to the high reviews and ratings, but their service could be a bit better though. Please read the descriptions below for more detail on the pasta and pizza we got to share. Calamari Shrimp Squid Ink Fettucine [GET]: It is an Italian restaurant, so we have to get some pasta. The squid ink fettucine was cooked to just the right texture, not mushy, but I think it could be more al dente. It is packed with insanely strong squid ink flavors, a bit salty, but it was delicious. The tomato sauce was rich and complex, so pungent and tangy too, literally a bowl packed with fresh chunks of tomatoes. It might look like a simple dish, but it allows the seafood to really shine from it. It's quite memorable. We ordered extra bread too to dip it into the tomato sauce; it was crusty on the outside and so fluffy and pillow y on the inside. Red Pizza [GET]: The pizza was huge, enough to feed 2 people with 8 slices. The crust was so crispy, and the dough was so chewy. Just look at how shiny the pizza looks. There are tons of cheese on top and you can see the olive oil oozing and drizzling from it, seriously divine. The cheese pull was insane. We added sausages and mushrooms on the pizza sausage, which was juicy and delicious. It is one of the tastiest pizzas I've had in Richmond. The pizza is on the greasier side though, so we only managed to have three slices each. Make sure to eat the pizza fast before it gets cold and soggy. Ambiance: 4.25/5 It is tiny inside, got an old school Italy vibe and with a small bar. However, it's cozy and a perfect spot for a date night. Dinamo only has around 8 9 tables, so make sure to make a reservation. We sat right next to the kitchen and was able to observe the chef prepping the food. The table was cool as well. There was a story printed on it too, about a boy that loves ketchup very much, LOL. There's only street parking near the VCU campus, but it was not that too hard to find one. Price: 4/5 Portions are massive here, and we had leftovers, and that's rare for us, since we eat a lot. The seafood squid ink pasta was $32, and the red pizza was $18, and each additional topping is $1 extra. Prices are highly than I expected, but I think it's fair for what's given. Service: 4/5 Our server was average, not the friendliest or the most engaging, but she was fast and efficient. She was quick at giving us the extra portion of bread and got us the parmesan cheese and chili flakes. The food came out relatively fast and piping hot and steamy, so not complaining. BLUF: One of the best squid ink pastas I've had in Richmond. I highly recommend ordering the calamari and shrimp squid ink pasta, and that should be the reason to visit Dinamo. The tomato sauce and the seafood juice just work wonderfully together, literally too dangerous. I would probably not go for the pizza, but pasta definitely a yes if I return again."

"While lazing around on New Year 's Day, the question came up. We really should eat something. Where do you want to go? The Lark sprang to mind because I heard about their Thanksgiving Egg Rolls and really wanted to try them. This was the perfect opportunity. I called and thankfully they were open. I snagged a space right out front on the street and they also have off street parkingWhen we walked in, the place looked pretty busy. There was only one person working the front of house. I girded for the worst, but was pleasantly surprised. She (I apologize for not remembering her name was the combination hostess, bartender, waitress, and busboy, and she excelled at each of those roles. We sat at the bar where large TVs were broadcasting the football games. (It was a Sunday after all. She took our drink orders. I had a Downeast Cider and my girlfriend ordered a lemonade. The cider was crisp and refreshing and tasted more like cider than beer, like some ciders do. For our meal, we shared the Thanksgiving Egg Rolls, my girlfriend had a North Shore House Salad (mixed greens, golden raisins, walnuts, feta, grape tomato, and balsamic reduction hold the feta with Grilled Shrimp. I had the California Burger (with Lark 's special sauce, guacamole, and feta cheese no bun and a side salad instead of fries. (It 's the New Year. Got to eat right for at least one day, right? The egg rolls were fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside with fresh roasted turkey and homemade stuffing on the inside. They serve it with a maple honey glaze and turkey gravy dip to complete the experience. Amazing. I might just close my kitchen and order them next thanksgiving. They 're that good. The burger was also very good and cooked exactly to order. I commented that a burger without a bun looked pretty lonely. But that 's how I ordered it. The grilled shrimp on the salad looked pretty good. The salad greens on both plates didn 't look farmer 's market fresh. But they were tasty nonetheless. When things quieted down a bit, the hostess/bartender/waitress/busboy explained that they were understudied because they almost weren 't going to open (they weren 't last year because of Covid and just didn 't anticipate the crowd. But I, for one, am glad they did open. The evening went off without a hitch. And it 's always nice to start off the new year with a good meal."
