"Let me first start by saying that I have been a fan of Saint Stephen since they opened last year. As a resident of Germantown and an avid explorer of food based experiences, I was thrilled to have Chef RJ join the local family. Tonight, we dined with Chef at Saint Stephen to thank the future father in law for his hard work and to celebrate my fiancé for expanding her footprint in Germantown. As the owner of ABEDNEGO, she has seen the neighborhood grow and evolve; Saint Stephen is one of the major highlights of said evolution. Tonight, we were greeted with a bottle of champagne to begin our celebration. Each cocktail was expertly crafted you can’t go wrong. While everything looked delicious, we kept things “low key” by ordering the StS Burger and Chicken Schnitzel. If these dishes provide indication of what to expect, order EVERYTHING. Burger is easily top 5 in Nashville. Cooked to perfection and balanced in flavor from the black garlic aioli to the special sauce. The Chicken Schnitzel expands your palette with the foie aioli and green tomatoes. After a near religious experience courtesy of Chef RJ’s dinner course, we truly were swept off our feet with dessert. The goat cheese cheesecake was delicate and rich. As a cheesecake fanatic, I can tell you this is a staple for me. The pecan pie tart...do it. It had all the elements you desire from pecan pie, yet more accessible as a tart. With the bold and traditional flavors of pecan, paired with the flaky crust, I could have eaten an entire pie and had zero regrets. I can only give you one piece of lasting advice if you have made it this far book your reservation now. Or show up without one and still be wowed. Happy hour is fantastic to add to the appeal of this restaurant. Chef RJ, thank you."

"Decent food, nice piano music, but the atmosphere of a diner : Visited Lorenzo's with my wife on 02/16/24 for a romantic dinner with live piano music. Unfortunately, the visit turned out to be a great disappointment : It's very sad as we planned this for a while and the place indeed had all the potential to live to the expectations. But it didn't : The food was decent; service was excellent and flawless; piano music was great, the guy played non stop for 1.5h! However, there were two big tables which got occupied with large families shortly after we came. One was just next us with about 8 people and the other was one table away with about 15 people including children and even babies. Very soon it became so noisy we could hardly hear the piano. All these people didn't care about the music at all being fully occupied with their family gatherings. And then a baby started crying... We felt like sitting in a busy diner rather than an upscale romantic place : The setting, the piano, the waiters in suits, the prices were not in line with what was going on. It was weird. The food was pretty good but falling short of 5 stars on all dishes except soup. Appetizers Bread basket with butter, olive oil, and ricotta this one was on the house and it was excellent. Fresh, warm, perfect. Roasted Peppers with Fresh Mozzarella this was a special of the day. The peppers tasted fine, but were most likely from a can, not freshly roasted. Mozzarella slices were quite tasteless with no dressing on top. We had to add salt on them the get some taste. Rooftop Kale Salad this was fine, but could benefit from a bit more goat cheese and walnuts. It was mostly kale... Mushroom Soup this was a special of the day. The soup was absolutely delicious! One of the best mushroom soups I ever had in a restaurant. This was the only flawless dish of the evening. Mains Slow Simmered Beef Short Rib the portion was good size, with nice presentation, sauce, and garnishes. The meat however was quite dry, certainly not melting in the mouth as the rightly cooked short ribs should be. On one side the meat was actually burned! : I could request a replacement, but really didn't want to go into this and wait while my wife was eating. The salt level was on a higher side ok, but on a border line. Basil Pesto Crusted Salmon it was pretty good, though on dry side, not as juicy and tender as you would expect in such a place. Desert Warm Apple Crumb the tart with ice cream was ok, nothing special. The white stuff they added around would be better off a whipped cream, but instead it tasted like a super sweet liquid marshmallow. We cannot recommend this restaurant. They need to figure out their identity."

"Do not waste your time. The food and service left a lot to be desired. We had MADE RESERVATIONS in advance but were rushed through our entire meal. We were reminded repeatedly that the chef was expecting a large party and that our meal could take a long time to prepare because of this party. I understood. No worries. I've got a $200.00 bottle of wine to enjoy. Once our order was received, the steaks were not prepared properly. Besides my rare being well done, the quality of their steaks were rather unsatisfactory. During our meal, the staff started really putting on the pressure for us to leave, filling up our glasses before we had even taken a drink. Over and over again! Not how I like to enjoy a bottle of wine. If you're looking for a great dining experience with quality food, look elsewhere. There are so many other wonderful options that meet the standards of the Bethesda community. When I asked for dessert, the owner stated that they were too busy and that I'd have to wait for over an hour if I wanted anything. This would have been nice to know when I made my reservations. Dessert is not an option! Once I explained to the staff and owner that I would not be leaving a tip, the waiter became very concerned and stated that he would not have the funds to give the owner and he'd have to pay from his own pocket if I didn't tip. I have had some terrible experiences and terrible food, but this takes the cake."
