"We had a reservation and we were on time. The hostess said there would be a thirty minute wait. I complained and the manager came over and said since we had a reservation we’d only have to wait 15-20 minutes. WHAT! We had theater tickets and had to be on time. We were finally seated 20 minutes later and then after waiting almost 10 minutes to even get water we got up to leave. The server finally came over. We stayed and ordered. The food was OK. We gobbled down the food, which is not a desirable way to eat. We got out of there as fast as we could. As Seinfeld said in an episode when renting a car, “you know how to take a reservation but don’t know how to keep it. We’ll never go back."

"Went to the Grape Vine cafe with a group of people. The atmosphere is very nice. The service was excellent. I ordered a baked manicotti. The waiter came back and said they were all out of it even though it was pretty early in the evening. So I ordered penne a la vodka. Not a problem. I ordered an iced tea which came back very dilute with barely any ice tea color. they were charging for barely colored water. I will say that the refill was considerably better. Now to the main course.. Unfortunately the vodka was not burned off in the making of the dish..therefore the food was bitter. Anywhere else I have ordered this dish , it is always a little spicy. Not here..bland. And they say it has asparagus.. three tiny pieces of the stem of an asparagus. My wife had a salad which she said was fine. I can't say I will ever be returning to this restaurant."

"The food was outstanding. The menu offered a wide variety of options. The mountain trout was exceptional, and the garlic mashed potatoes were the best side dish. Our group of five thoroughly enjoyed our meals and had plenty of leftovers to take home. The appetizers were delicious; we ordered the fried mushrooms and loaded fries. "It’s challenging to write this review. The waiter was incredibly attentive and acknowledged that I was celebrating a milestone birthday. I ordered the shrimp appetizer filled with crab meat, and the waiter confirmed it was indeed crab. However, when it arrived, I found only breadcrumbs and shrimp—no crab in sight. I also ordered the mushroom ravioli, which was decent, but it seemed like it had been made three days ago. They claim to make their pasta daily, so it was disappointing to find that not to be true. The house salad was nothing special either. Overall, it was an expensive lunch that left me quite disappointed."

"This restaurant is conveniently located near JMU and three of us recently dined there. The food was mostly very good, with a great selection of beer on tap. We started with the Chicken nachos, which were just average. My wife and daughter both loved the Ale house burger, while I enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich. It was good, but after trying my wife's burger, I wished I had ordered that instead. I would definitely come back here for the burgers."

"Been here a few times. I’ve had a pleasant and enjoyable experience each and every time. I like the feel of this restaurant. It’s got a modern and upscale vibe, and I consider the menu items priced fair in terms of competition. I see they are advertising a lunch special $14.99 for an entree, side, and drink. Seems like a good deal I must note that I’ve only eaten dinner here. For starters, I was recommended the mozzarella sticks, so that was ordered. These are some very unique mozzarella sticks for sure—they are breaded in wanton paper! It was absolutely DELICIOUS and certainly a new take on a staple appetizer! Highly recommend! I built my own wagyu burger with a mountain of toppings. It was made 100% correctly and cooked to my liking. If you build your own burger, highly recommend you add fried onions and avocado neither of which they charge extra for! As for the sides with the burger, they are known for their chips, so order that. That’s what I got and it was delicious! Will be back got sure!"

"Dropped by today to try their chili because I read online that it was homemade and was very disappointed. First: there were two guy’s there, one blond w/ ponytail and the other guy with the black hair and he was slightly rude and seemed irritated that he had to help. Asked him a question and he just pointed over to the wall. Then when i got the chili, after he put it in the cup he came over to the counter and just threw the bag on the counter. Just rude and miserable.The chili was disgusting, cold and not homemade like I thought. It was chili definitely from a can. (If u can’t tell the difference from homemade and can chili then something is wrong. The atmosphere here is very dark and not inviting at all. They had dirty dishes sitting over by the trash can and it was overall just a tacky experience."

It’s very dirty- from the bar top, to utensils to the disgusting tiny bathroom where I couldn’t get any hot water and there was no soap to wash my hands.
