"Upon sitting down, we ordered waters and asked our waitress for two separate baskets of chips and salsa since we tend to go through one quickly, which would save her time. We ordered fajitas and queso to share, but since we had just come from a funeral, we weren’t particularly hungry. The waitress asked if we still wanted the salad, rice, and beans that typically accompany the meal. A bit confused, we agreed. When the food arrived, each of us received a "fajita side salad." We didn't raise any concerns, assuming that this was standard when sharing fajitas. However, the fajitas themselves lacked flavor. After finishing our meal, the waitress brought us the check, and to our surprise, we were charged for extra chips, extra salsa, and the extra side salad. I approached the waitress to clarify why we were charged for items that are typically complimentary. She explained that we were billed because we had two baskets at once. If we had requested a refill later, it would have been free. I told her that I’ve never been charged for chips and salsa at any El Loro before, to which she responded that this was a new policy implemented a year ago due to some customers only ordering chips and salsa. However, we had clearly ordered a full meal and I shared that I had visited multiple El Loro locations in the past year without any issues. I asked if there were any signs in the restaurant or on the menu indicating this charge, but she said there weren't. I requested to speak to a manager, but she just stared at me and did not respond. I repeated my request, but nothing changed. I explained my reasoning for wanting a refund for the chips and salsa, as I believed both baskets should have been complimentary, but she maintained that we were charged because we received them simultaneously. After attempting to reason with her for a while with no resolution, I paid the bill and left. I have no plans to return to this location and will be advising everyone I know to steer clear as well."

"My experience at this restaurant was truly remarkable. Before stepping in, it's important to embrace the beautiful cultural difference that shines through, especially if you don't speak Spanish. This unique characteristic adds a special charm to the place. Patience and kindness are key, as the staff here are incredibly warm hearted and eager to assist. When I tipped, I was met with genuine gratitude, a testament to their hard work and deep desire to succeed. They deserve to thrive because they are good, hardworking people. Throughout my visit, I witnessed strong leadership, genuine camaraderie, and a palpable sense of teamwork. The restaurant’s design is intriguing and captivating, blending country contemporary elements with a touch of South American flair. This blend of styles reflects their effort to connect with the local community while honoring their roots. It's refreshing to see a space that doesn't strictly follow conventional design rules but instead tells a story of bridging cultural gaps. In their unique design, you'll find American contemporary touches, simple Southern style hanging art, and pieces that speak to their heritage. This blend creates a beautiful, harmonious environment that feels welcoming and authentic. I pray that the Lord blesses this establishment with prosperity today and for the next hundred years. May they continue to spread the joy and unity they've cultivated within their team and contribute. Next I will type this in Spanish so they can read and understand what I'm saying however language is never perfect when trying to describe an idea from Spanish to English My experience at this restaurant was truly extraordinary. "Likely the most authentic tacos in the Triangle area. A bit off the beaten path and short on decor, it a a true rendition of the tacos we had at a roadside stand in Costa Maya, MX. Family owned and run. I finally got away from my taco habit and ordered the chili relleno, I asked for the spicy option. My Bride got the spinach enchiladas. Both of us had a beer (I had 2). Total, with tip was $35. Everything was great and the service was friendly and quick. Again, it is a bit out of the way, being about 10 minutes west of Chapel Hill on Hwy 54. If you 're into it, they have homemade menudo on weekends (not my thing) and ceviche tostadas. Check 'em out and their market across the road, too!
