"Avoid this place. New owner. We were here for our 8 year anniversary. We have come to Pino 's every anniversary for the past 6 years. We have also dined here on the fly over this time on days that were not occasions. The food has always been exceptional. Piper was working at the time and sat us promptly. I noticed that all of the fire dept. gear was missing from the faux balcony and asked if Joe was still the owner. She replied, No. He sold and retired. . This wasn 't a red flag and didn 't deserve to be. My wife and I ordered a glass of wine each for the occasion and ordered the bruschetta as we normally have done. The dish came out after some wait time and it did look different, but again, nothing to be apprehensive about. We both took a serving. The bread was not toasted at all and it was sitting in liquid on the plate. It was soggy and barely had taste. The owner came over and asked about it. We said that it wasn 't toasted and it was soggy. It was bad. The owner replied, it is supposed to be toasted. Let me go talk to my kitchen. . He took the plate and shuffled off. We both ordered our usual dish of the Chicken Penne. My first bite was tasteless and the chicken was repulsive. It was tough, chewy, and barely had flavor. The dish was dry. The original owner 's dish had a bit of an oil sauce along with small garlic chunks. The dish was bad. My wife felt about the same (though she was trying to be more of a positive mindset. . We were at the end of the dish (though I left less then half of the served 'food ' on the plate. and the relief kid waiter (skinny teen whelp with dark slicked back hair comes by and 'drops ' the check on the table while we were still dining. I say out loud, Well looks like we aren 't having dessert after all.. as I clap my hands in disgust with the visit. While we are sitting there he buses the table and takes the drink I am still nursing. I paid cash and the kid asks if I wanted change. I said no. He then makes a comment about the dining experience from before he took over our table. Which leads me to believe there was chatter in the kitchen/back area that possibly included the owner in this chatter. Possibly why the check was dropped while we were still dining to get us out of there sooner (though this sentence is based speculation on his comments. . I ask the kid in disbelief, Do you normally clear the table while people are still finishing their meal? . (and I don 't mean taking a plate or two that were empty and pushed to the side.... but everything. Including the drink I was still sipping on. . We get up to leave and the kid continues going in a passive aggressive confrontational tone. I stopped and turned around and told him, Please do us a favor and stop talking to us. . The food and the service was absolutely appalling. To be honest, if the kid kept going the night would have ended differently. Let 's add the fact while we told the owner the bruschetta was bad, it was still on the bill. We unfortunately will never return to a restaurant that we have been regulars to for 6 years with the old owner because the new owner does not come close to quality or care of what was once there. Thanks again for the wedding anniversary memories."

"I have been to the Magic Lamp many times over the years. But this past Valentines’ Day was my last and I will never go there again. This is clearly a “regular’s only” place, as people that only eat there once a month are clearly not welcome! I called on the 12th for an early reservation on the 13th. A nice lady on the phone said that although she would not take a reservation for 5 pm, to be there by 5 pm and we would be seated as she said there were very few reservations for 5 pm. Easy enough I thought. We arrived promptly at 5 pm and the parking lot was empty, I thought great! The restaurant was empty too with only three people in the bar. We were greeted by a non-smiling young brunette gal who asked if we had a reservation, no I exclaimed, but also explained what I was told on the phone the previous day. The hostess looked at me like I had nerve and seated us at a table directly behind the hostess station in the busiest aisle in the restaurant. Mind you that the restaurant was completely empty. I asked to be seated in the nice large comfy leather seating across the aisle as I am 6’4” and my wife is 6’ tall, not to mention that the regular chairs are old, rickety and uncomfortable. The hostess said “sorry, but those tables are for reservations only” I have heard this line several times before…hence “regulars only”….Not to mention that we were also in the section with the ancient waitress with the scowl that has no personality and never smiles! So here’s the rub. We were there from 5 pm to 6:40 pm, and only one couple sat in the leather seats and was gone before we left. The seats were empty the entire time we were there! And when we left, the restaurant was only about 30% full. I have seen this, and had this happen to me several time before on regular non-special occasion evenings. This B.S. treatment really got us thinking, and we realize that the Magic Lamp Inn is not that nice of a restaurant to begin with, and not worth the money and trouble, especially with their prices in this economy. Example: a Filet Mignon is $42.00 A LA CARTE!!!! Give me a break!!! That is by far the most expensive filet in any restaurant, period! The Magic Lamp Inn is not even close to Flemings or Ruth Chris’s when it comes to quality of food, quality of service, value, quality of atmosphere and especially quality of seating. You beat the Magic Lamp Inn with a better meal with better service at 75% less at Cask and Cleaver!!! Do not be foolish and spend your money at the Magic Lamp Inn for a mediocre meal with terrible service!!!! Spend your money wisely and drive two more miles to Flemings!!! You will not be disappointed!!! Remember Magic Lamp Inn, service starts at the front door, and you consistently blew it !!!!! You “regulars” can have this place, you are all fool’s and deserve it!!!"
