"Mediocre Americanized Thai food. It seems this restaurant is banking on its waterfront location, catering to the tastes of standard American families. I heard that the Pad Thai was popular, so I decided to try the special with crispy Pad Thai, along with some Vietnamese fresh rolls. The fresh rolls were quite good, and the peanut sauce had a pleasant kick that complemented them nicely. Unfortunately, the Pad Thai was disappointing. Aside from the tofu, it was just a mound of noodles with a few bean sprouts on the side. I specifically ordered the crispy version, and the waitress even repeated "crispy" back to me, yet what I received was the regular dish. Mistakes happen, and I can live with that. What I can’t accept, though, is the total lack of flavor in this dish. Thai food is typically known for its spicy notes that gradually build on your palate, but my meal had no spice whatsoever, and the sauce was bland. I requested some chili sauce since the dish was lacking flavor, and while the waitress did bring it, she never checked in to see if I was satisfied with my meal overall. Additionally, I noticed that the prices on their website are for lunch; dinner prices are significantly higher."

"My wife and I wanted a nice laid-back place to sit outside and enjoy a fun dinner. We ended up being very disappointed by the service. Our server took about 10-15 minutes to get to the table (which feels like an eternity when you are waiting to order beverages). They took our drink order and quickly returned with a cocktail and waters but the beer we ordered was delayed by a few minutes. Not a big deal, but then the night went south. We didn't see our server again for a very long time. We started to feel like our appetizer was a little delayed when food runners showed up with our entrees. No app in sight. We let them know and eventually the server brought our app. But we were halfway into the meal by that point. The food tasted fine. Nothing extraordinary but not bad. The nachos, I admit, were delicious. The mac and cheese we ordered was described to have bread crumbs but was missing that. Fortunately the server had it taken care of pretty quickly. We were never asked about having our drinks refilled. And after eating, we waited a long time for our check. It just seemed to take forever for everything. None of the problems by themselves would have been a big deal, but together it added up to a somewhat unpleasant experience. The server was nice and apologetic. They also comped us the appetizer which was nice. May have been an off night or maybe a new server, but I can't say I would recommend going on a Saturday night. Also, we did enjoy the outdoor seating area. It was a little tight, but the ambiance was nice."

"I called in a order, after 45 minutes it had not arrived. So I called to check on it. The man who answered says, oh yeah it 's going out now . In my opinion that 's unacceptable, especially since I waited to order specifically during a time they weren 't busy. The food was of course was warm. The pork fried rice was good. The sesame chicken sauce was good, but the chicken was too chewy. The fried dumplings would have been good if they didn 't get soggy from sitting around waiting for the order to go out. I can 't say that I 'll order from there again."

"Do not order the egg rolls. I don't consider taking a frozen eggroll, dipping it in tempura battery, and deep frying it edible.The food is hit or miss. Mongolian beef is not recognizeable. Many of the other dishes like lo mein style chow mein are good. I have ordered more than 3 times for lunch and maybe this time I'll remember how bad the egg rolls are."

"Long Life Vegi House  1725 University Ave./McGee Ave., (510) 845-6072.  L-D W-M: .  This inexpensive Chinese restaurant moved recently from its location close to the campus to a farther away but spacious new spot with big windows to the street.  It features many dishes with mock meats but also has a lengthy menu of real seafood dishes.  Portions are huge, and zucchini is a favorite filler--and good for you.  Vegetarian items include vegi-pork and vegi-chicken with spicy garlic sauce, sweet-and-sour fried tofu, steamed taro buns, scallion pancakes, and orange chicken.  My personal favorites are sweet-and-sour pork, and eggplant and tofu with spicy garlic sauce.  The bargain 6.99 lunch special includes a bowl of hot and sour soup, a spring roll, and brown rice.  Ask for the good chili sauce, which they keep in the back."

"The people are really nice, and it's conveniently located and pleasant. But when I went, some of our dishes were dirty and had to be replaced. The food was terrible. I had beef chow mein. The meat tasted weird, off. I literally spit it into my napkin. The egg roll filling was unidentifiable mush. The pork in the sweet and sour pork tasted gamy. Sorry, I wish I could recommend it, because the service was good and the people were nice, but the food was terrible. I returned my entire plate of food and asked that it be removed from our bill. They were very obliging."

"This is my go to viet family restaurant in east side San Jose. From birthdays to graduations to different holidays, my family always come here to celebrate. This time, we came on a Monday evening to celebrate a birthday. We arrived at the restaurant at 8pm and there were only 2 other families aside from us. We were seated and they took our order right away. Our food came out soon after, fresh off the stove. Salt and Pepper Fried Fish: this is one of my favorite dishes here. The catfish was battered and fried in a what that made it stay crunchy until the end of the meal. The fish itself was very light and flaky with no distinguishable taste on its own. After coming out of the frier, the fish was tossed in salt and pepper. There was just the right amount of salt and pepper to help flavor the fish and not overpower the entire dish Walnut Shrimp: usually pretty solid but kinda dropped the ball this time. The battered crust from being fried was already kinda soggy by the time the dish got to us. Usually it's crispy and hot, but this time, it was very underwhelming. You can barely tell the difference between the shrimp and the batter. The sauce was still pretty good though, but how can you go wrong with Mayo and condensed milk. The walnuts was still de lightly with the candied coating outside. Sour soup with catfish: I don't know what they put in this but it really is my favorite restaurant for this dish. The soup itself was the right kind of sour that they probably achieved using pineapple juice as broth. The mix of green herbs added a very pleasant flavor that really elevated the taste, but they put a little too much in my opinion. The tomatos, bean sprouts, and other vegetables were cooked throughly, with the flavor of the soup penetrating them. They gave us less fish this time around though, as they would have given us 3 pieces of catfish, but they only gave us 2 this time around. Clams in Black Bean Sauce (not pictured): we always get this as a family as it is a solid appetizer. You really need to eat the clams when they first come out as the longer they sit out, the more they develop a fishy/briny taste. The sauce is very good and I often pour this sauce over my rice. The wait staff has been here for a long time and treat everyone like family... if you speak Vietnamese/Chinese. They will take care of you and make sure that you're enjoying your food though. Overall... a very solid Vietnamese family style restaurant with dishes to share with friends or family."

"I feel like we’re almost part of the family at this restaurant. We regularly order a range of dishes, all of which have been incredibly delicious. My new favorite has to be the boneless spare ribs; the flavor and texture are fantastic, especially when paired with the rice. I love that the rice isn’t oily but still packed with flavor. The staff is also very accommodating, easily adapting many of the dish pairings to suit my low-carb needs, which is always a plus."

"As someone who was born and raised in the West Village of Manhattan, I've enjoyed fantastic Chinese food throughout my life. Now living in Boston, we decided to visit China Garden yesterday, and I've been spoiled ever since. I had completely forgotten just how incredible New York Chinese food can be! The service was quick and cheerful, though it's worth noting that they only accept cash and don't offer a military discount. But honestly, it was all more than worth it. Wahoo! China Garden has the best takeout Chinese food I've ever had. Plus, parking is easy—there's plenty available right out front!"

"We decided to dine at Ming's based on a recommendation from a couple we had just met at Golden Fu Wah. We had been ignored at Golden Fu Wah, so we left and followed the couple to Ming's. We had a fantastic lunch experience at Ming's. We were greeted promptly and seated right away. The menu offered a wide variety of options, including many lunch specials. We ordered two different lunch combos, which came with hot and sour soup that was delicious. The entrees were presented on unique and beautiful plates. We both enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken and fried rice. My partner's combo also included salmon chicken and a crispy egg roll, which he liked. My combo featured beef with broccoli and fried prawns, both of which were delicious. Even our iced tea was good. The service was top-notch and attentive. We will definitely return to Ming's and have no plans of ever going back to Golden Fu Wah."

"WOW. Just WOW. Authentic Thai food in Houston! Thai food is probably my go-to comfort food. It's flavorful, often spicy, and goes well with rice. They have vegetarian, pescatarian, and meat-eater options. Everyone loves it, right? We brought a group of 12 here, just 30 minutes before closing and yet they were nice enough to seat us and let us eat and talk for 90 minutes. The food here is EXCELLENT. I felt like I was back in Thailand. Yes, it is really that good. And we tried everything, from the Pad Thai, all the curries, noodle dishes and a few different fried rice dishes, tom yum, rolls, and fish cakes. Every dish was exceptional. I cannot wait to come back!"

"Couldn't find a single complaint about this restaurant. I ordered the egg flower soup and got it within 5 minutes. Ordered two plates and got them both in about 15 minutes. There was one waitress because there was noone else there, and she was so sweet and kept on her toes. She engaged in friendly conversation and kept our drinks filled. I wish I would have asked for her name again so I could put a good word in. The food was amazing! I don't eat a whole lot, but I was able to eat my share of both dishes because they were so good! We barely took anything home, but we ate what we had left as soon as we got back. Fast and friendly service, clean restaurant and excellent food. What more do you need?"

"DON 'T WASTE YOU 'RE MONEY HERE!!! The atmosphere is about the only good thing this place has and even that is subpar. The food was absolutely horrendous. It was more then obvious all the food was pre prepared and had been sitting for quite awhile, From The cold mac and cheese, the overcooked steak and the crapy cake. For $200 for 2 I expect something better then what I can cook at home. The drinks had little to no Alcohol in them for $13 a pop I expected more. Our Waitress was also extremely rude and uninviting, talked down to us when questioned about the menu and when asked for the check. And not only that they are scam artists the 18% gratuity is added to the check automatically, You 're then prompted to add and additional 18% which is already preselected and highlighted on the screen!
