"being generous with 3 stars. leaning towards 2.5. significantly hit miss. One meal was very enjoyable and one was distinctly poor bordering on awful. Unique menu style here where about 10 or 12 different types of fish are available in multiple cooking/preparation options. Grilled, sandwiches, tacos, salads, plates. Also fried fish and chips and different styles of seafood soups. The grilled fish is available with about 8 different marinades or seasonings. The side choices are pretty standard like fries, rings, salad, coleslaw, rice, etc. You pick a fish, a style, and a side on what they call the 1,2,3 Fish menu. You can also pick some unique items from the Fish Shop Favorites list. After pondering the menu options my wife and I went different directions with our choices. She went with items from the More Fish Dishes section-a crab cake, cup of clam chowder, and side of coleslaw. My choices were a grilled fish taco with halibut, the TKO taco-mahi, Fish Shop seasoning, cilantro sauce, and tropical salsa. And I have a thing for ceviche so I added a small cup of mahi ceviche with chips. Last item was an order of onion rings. The items my DW was served were the extreme miss?s here tonight. And she is not by any means a picky eater. Rarely even mentions issues. But her crabcake (made with snow crab I believe) had no flavor, seafood or other wise and was served luke warm. Her slaw was an unpleasant wilted mess not worth the added cost at all, and her chowder had minimal clams and tasted like a floury roux more than anything else. We also felt like our onion rings were over cooked and most likely fried in oil that should have been changed some time ago. It was a jarring contrast when I began to eat my menu selections. Both tacos had the option of corn or flour tortillas which I welcomed since flour is my preference but is available less often. The simple grilled halibut taco was delicious with cabbage, pico, mixed cheese, and cilantro sauce. Fish was piping hot and moist. The TKO taco?s mahi as well was grilled perfectly and the seasoning along with other toppings melded into a wonderful flavor profile. Totally enjoyed both of them. The ceviche was outstanding. The mahi was cured in lemon juice, providing a brightness and acidity to every bite but was perfect with the fish. And the additional ingredients, onions, peppers, and I believe cucumber still held their flavor alongside the fish. Served with warm chips, this was crazy good. And the portion for the price was outstanding. Very full and satisfied after finishing my meal. So, on our visit it seems the way to go for a good meal was stick more towards the fresh fish side of the offerings rather than the fried/soup/side options. Rare (at least for us) to find such a difference in satisfaction between two meals. Unfortunately this left us disappointed despite the dishes enjoyed."
