"My wife and I recently celebrated our sixth anniversary at the Old '76 House while visiting the Hudson Valley. When making our reservation, I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. To our delight, the staff surprised us with a lovely table by the bar featuring two comfortable chairs. We absolutely adored the colonial decor throughout the tavern, and to our joy, we enjoyed live jazz music as well. For drinks, my wife ordered The Dropped Lemon—a martini made with Italian limoncello and citrus-infused vodka with a sugar rim—while I opted for the 76 House Tavernkeeper Ale, which is exclusively brewed for the tavern based on a centuries-old recipe that George Washington enjoyed so much he took it back to Mount Vernon. For our appetizer, we shared Grilled Flatbread topped with roasted butternut squash and garlic purée, caramelized onions, shaved Brussels sprouts, Gruyère cheese, and chili-bacon jam. For the main course, my wife had the Jumbo Diver Scallops, which featured jumbo sea scallops with seared red onion, house-made risotto deglazed with port wine. I chose the Roast Loin of Pork—bacon-wrapped loin stuffed with chorizo cornbread stuffing, roasted and finished with sauce chasseur, served alongside a duo of mashed sweet Yukon gold potatoes. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! Though we were a bit too full for dessert, our bartender surprised us with dessert cocktails made with whiskey, amaretto, crème de cacao, Irish cream, and coffee liqueur, garnished with strawberries, and presented on a plate with the words "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate syrup. We also had the pleasure of chatting with owner Rob Norden, who was incredibly friendly. We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at the Old '76 House and would love to return in the future!"

"I have never written a review about a restaurant before, but I feel this experience was worth talking about to warn other guests. First, the food was delicious. All of the courses we had were tasty so I cannot complain about the food. Where I had a big issue was with the customer service. My problem started when we first made the reservation. After the reservation was made, I called to try and modify the reservation to add more people, but the extension for the restaurant did not work. After 2 weeks of trying to go ahold of the restaurant, I was finally called back by the manager of Cheyenne Club telling me there was a mistake with the reservation system and the month I made a reservation for wouldn’t work, because they were closed that month and neglected to tell us after our reservation was already made. The manager apologized and did end up getting us a free bottle of with with our dinner when we were able to reschedule a month later. During our actual dinner, our waitress seemed very timid and unconfident about the menu. Multiple employees suggested we try the beef options they were known for. We took their suggestion on our tasting menu and enjoyed our food. There were literally 4 tables of people in the entire restaurant all night, but our waitress went so long after our entrees before refilling our waters or bringing us dessert menus. When we got our bill, the already $170 per person (plus tip) had an extra $75-$100 per steak added to our bill. We had absolutely no idea the steaks were extra as there was no mention of it on our menu and our server did not mention the price upgrade. When confronted about it, the server made us feel as if we should had just known it would be an upgrade without being told. The menu was confusing and for $200+ more a couple that should 100% be disclosed with customers before ordering. Again, we enjoyed our food, but with the lack of professional customer service and with spending that much money, we will not be back."
