"I was quite surprised at how busy this place was on a Thursday night around 8pm. It was literally 100 degrees outside and we walked in thinking we could easily cool off inside, but unfortunately the inside was still pretty warm. Their AC was probably working as hard as it could, but with all of the bodies in there, plus the insane heat outside, I don 't think it could keep up. Our server(s? did an amazing job of refilling our water glasses which really helped us out a lot over our course of our meal most definitely. Onto the food: we ordered 4 different rolls, from the regular to the signature maki as well as a beef tataki. We also ordered a cocktail each. The beef tataki was a perfect cold appetizer that we both really enjoyed to start off. I 'm not personally sure if I 've ever had that specifically before anywhere so I can 't really say how authentic or if the quality of it is on par with what it normally should, but we really really liked it! Onto the rolls I 'm kind of indifferent on them. I think they were all decent, but that 's as far as I would go. I 'd say the Dynamite was the best one out of all the ones we ordered. I don 't think I 'd go out of my way to come back to this place based on the taste and quality of the sushi, but if I 'm in the area, I think it 's solid. It 's just not the *best* sushi I 've ever had. I 'd definitely want to try other things such as Udon for example!"

"The restaurant has a very cute, trendy vibe with an intimate dining room. Btw, parking can be a challenge but if you luck up get a parking spot directly outside the restaurant on Lancaster Avenue, it's free. The ramen...WOW! I had every intention of taking some home but nope...ate every last bit there! As a pescaterian, majority of the ramen dishes had pork broth BUT there was about 3-4 chicken/vegetable/shrimp ramen bowls. Since I had the Vegetable Miso Ramen on my 1st visit (highly recommend! , I tried the Green Curry Ramen and this dish too measured up! There's a full bar and I definitely want to return to try their sushi which I hear is great too. Ishmael was a great server! The only reason I'm giving Ramen Bar a 4 instead of 5 stars is because I asked for a little hot sauce to add to my ramen and the young lady gave me Bakudan which was delish but an additional $3 and didn't even advise beforehand (total pet peeve of mine ! I never heard of an additional charge for hot sauce and even so, generally a condiment charge is only $1-2; $3 is pretty steep. But go figures because if you add shrimp to the Vegetable Miso Ramen it's an additional $7. I guess they don't care about making things reasonable even though the restaurant is located on Drexel's campus. Also it would be nice if Ramen Bar's Happy Hour pricing returned like it had pre-pandemic (the HH menu is still on the restaurant's IG page ."

"Someone say ramen? Try out Wagaya on King in the McCully/Moilili area located in a tiny strip mall with Mama Woo's closest to King. Parking is very limited, so planning your visit is helpful but street parking is available if the lot is full. This place does do queuing when the are maxed out, so also plan on waiting a couple minutes after parking or walking in.Inside is modest with chair and tables seatings, and depending on the size of your group, they can try to rearrange the tables to accommodate your group. On a past visit, we had nearly a dozen and were split up, but we totally understood, for we waited 40 mins before we got in. Though, they will do their best to get your group in all at once and hopefully together.Since my very first visit to Wagaya, I wasn't impressed. Noodles were stiff, dashi was tasteless, but as I kept returning, their noodles have improved and the dashi is so different now, I can't remember what that first taste was.The first dish I tried was the Garlic Miso, and as mentioned I wasn't impressed. Will try again later... my favorite though is the Shio with thin noodles and less salty. Don't recall getting those options with the Garlic Miso in my initial visit. The Tantan was nice and full of flavor, but didn't really reach my palette. My friend said his Gyodashi Shoyu was very tasty and ono! Besides the ramen, the side dishes are ono-worthy. Gyoza with ramen is like rice with plate lunch, gotta have. Their gyoza is medium sized and tasty, but the pupu to get is the Chicken Karaage. Huge boneless pieces, fried perfectly, just don't eat them right away... they're HOT.Service is super fast and friendly. The may seem a little rushed, but as you will experience, they are quite busy. So pro-Japanese style tip... sign up, get in, eat, and pay on your way out. As a curtesy to everyone waiting, try not to linger after eating, for others are waiting to get their shot at some grub. Of course, if no one waiting, no worries. If the debate is what ramen to eat, then give Wagaya a shot. If you just hungry, give Wagaya a shot. Till my next visit, Grind On, Pau!"

"I loved this place and have been a bunch since it opened. But I probably won't be back unfortunately. The quality has gone really downhill in a lot of areas. They switched the neat Tiki cups and presentations to simple patterned glassware (which is to cut costs I'm sure...but for such a high price point...is indicative of where their priority is now). I hate to crap on anyone in the service side but it was really terrible. Went for my birthday, and the server didn't know ingredients in the drinks (no worries, we can read, but it seemed to irritate her that we asked), no one explained the menu, some of the food came cold, some of the food was completely forgotten, we had to get up from the table and go find her twice (after we asked a few times from passing people) after waiting a while to order, and also just pay. No one wanted to help get us simple things like napkins and water. The presentation of the food and the fancy drink was lackluster and they couldn't have cared less. They forgot to pour the hot water in the towelettes, again not an important thing, but way different than in the past...and it just sat there like weird sad pellets of disappointment. Honestly they were just annoyed we were even there. And what's frustrating is we're a very easy group, with some of us service people. We were polite and thanked them and were genuinely nice. We didn't need over the top enthusiasm...we know it sucks to wait tables on a Wednesday...but damn. At 70+ a person, it was pretty terrible quality. Still had a great time seeing friends and hanging out in the space. But it's probably the last time I'll take people here. There are other places to explore."
