"Yamato appears to be a cozy little neighborhood spot that satisfies your sushi cravings. Living in an area with exceptional Japanese restaurants has set my expectations high, so I’m aware that I might be a bit spoiled. That said, I recognize that you often get what you pay for, and places like Yamato provide a solid option if you're on a budget. The experience is generally average in almost every aspect. The exterior is plain and somewhat dull, yet it maintains a tasteful simplicity. The dining area has the charm of a 1960s insurance office but with even less decor. The colorful menu doesn’t include prices or descriptions, so you might need to ask the staff or already be familiar with the offerings. The all-you-can-eat (AYCE) option seems to be the most popular, but the rules (as noted in other reviews) aren’t very clear for newcomers. We visited on a moderately busy night, and while the service was adequate when staff were present, they appeared to be a bit short-handed. All of our appetizers and main dishes were decent—neither remarkable nor disappointing—but I found the sushi rolls to be rather large and ungraceful. Most required two bites to consume and tended to fall apart after the first bite! However, the ingredients were fresh, flavorful, and visually appealing. Beer and wine were offered, but once again, the menu lacked descriptions and prices. In a city brimming with excellent seafood and sushi options, I wouldn’t choose Yamato as a destination again unless I happened to be in the area, as I was recently."

"I’ve visited Soho Asian And Grill multiple times, and the food is consistently excellent with reasonable prices—considering it’s a high-end restaurant, their pricing is very fair. I’ve always been happy with my experience, which is why I keep coming back. But on my last visit, they truly went above and beyond. I was picking up food for a friend who was delayed at the airport. The kitchen staying open until 11:45 PM on a regular weekday during a non-peak time was impressive in itself. It got even better: as I was leaving with my friend’s order, I realized it didn’t seem like enough food for his family of six—only three items were on the receipt. After checking with my friend, we discovered the order should have included four hamburgers but only one was listed. Keep in mind, it was already 11:50 PM on a Tuesday, and the kitchen was supposed to be closed. I asked the manager if maybe there was a second bag that had been forgotten, but we learned my friend had only ordered one burger. Whose mistake it was—my friend’s or the staff’s—we’ll never know. But the manager called the kitchen back, and they made the three missing hamburgers. They could have reasonably charged extra for reopening the kitchen, and my friend would have gladly paid. Instead, they didn’t charge for one burger and even threw in some complimentary items. This was for a customer who will probably never return, as he was just passing through Miami for a connecting flight. While they may not see my friend again, you can be sure they will see me a lot more— I might even swing by for lunch soon! Thank you, Soho, for showing what true customer service looks like. If you ever get the chance, don’t hesitate to try this place!"

"I heard absolutely amazing things about this place but unfortunately my experience was not great. I feel like the waiters and chefs are not communicating with each other and they ended up getting a lot of things wrong with my order. They gave my table water twice and asked what we would like to drink twice by two different waitresses. That’s fine, they were busy and might have gotten confused. Then one of the took our order. We got the sashimi deluxe, spicy tuna roll with NO CUCUMBER (my bf is allergic to it), and the miso ramen. First they brought out the spicy tuna roll but it came with cucumbers. We had specifically said no cucumbers on the roll and we needed to be remade, they took it back and literally just removed the cucumbers (we literally saw the holes where the cucumbers were taken out), then we had to specify yet again it needed to be made again because my bf is allergic to them. The sashimi deluxe seamed rice was fine but we saw that it was brought to another table, taken back to the kitchen, then to our table. About 40 minutes into the meal the miso ramen was still not here yet. The waitress noticed we were missing something, then brought another table’s dish out and put it on our table. I told her this is not miso ramen, she took it away and went back to the kitchen. Another 5 min passes by and she brings a miso ramen out with no fish cakes, I never specified that, took it back to kitchen. Another 5 minutes pass, I see my miso ramen come out but the waitress but it on the table next to mine despite that costumer ordering a katsu. The ramen really lacked miso flavor, it tasted very salty and almost seafood-y. I know that they were extremely busy but to bring out the wrong dishes more than 4 times is crazy. All and all I think they just need to work on their communication as whole. But I can’t say I will be returning."
