We stumbled upon this amazing hidden gem on our way to Belfast. After struggling to find parking in Portland, we were thrilled to end up at this restaurant where I tried my first oyster. The cottage pie and power bowls were delicious, and Emily provided excellent service.

My partner and I ordered two lamb dinners for Easter, but when we arrived home, we discovered only one lamb dinner and one ham dinner in our order. Unfortunately, we do not eat ham. We had a date night here last Sauturday night. We called ahead and asked to sit at the bar. When we arrived, there were two places set for us at the bar. The hostess, waitress, and bartender all greeted us, as well as a lovely couple who had been sitting at the end of the bar.Our bartender made some drink suggestions. Emily did not disappoint! I recently visited Bistro 233 in Portland, Maine, which is one of my favorite places to be. The experience started off a bit rocky as we waited for about 20 minutes without anyone taking our order. Just as we were about to leave, my husband noticed that there was only one waiter serving all the tables. Despite being overwhelmed with 13 tables, the waiter was incredibly pleasant, apologetic, and took our orders promptly. The oysters, fried calamari, shrimp cabanara linguini, hummingbird cake, and martinis that we ordered were all excellent. The fried calamari was especially the best we've ever had.
