"A late lunch at Cafe Sierra Negra was a perfect capstone to a wonderful daytrip out to Ghost Ranch. That this humble and simple meal was one of the three best dining experiences we had during a week-plus in New Mexico is saying something, because we had a veritable smorgasbord of fantastic food during our visit to the state.Credit goes to the wife for zeroing in on this little roadside cafe in preparing for this outing. A low-slung building nestled among a few trees, it's easy to miss: Although it has an Abiquiu address, its U.S. 84 setting right across from a Family Dollar is a couple of miles east of the little Georgia O'Keeffe-heavy Abiquiu tourist agglomeration.Anyway, the internet hype seems justified: A bowl of green chile stew was better than a dish this deceptively simple seemingly has any right to be. Terrific depth of flavor, wonderful seasoning, tender pieces of succulent pork, a few veggies (carrots and potatoes mostly) and accompanied by a toasted olive bread that was one of the best baked items I'd had in a while. The wife had scrambled-egg tacos--even simpler--but said the tortillas alone were worth the price of admission.Speaking of O'Keeffe, the proprietor of this restaurant used to manage tours at the nearly O'Keeffe home. It's safe to say that she has found her calling with this place.The lonesome desert setting lends the modest cafe some gravitas and magic. But given food this good, it doesn't really need any extra. I realize this was only a single lunch, but both the wife and I would wholeheartedly recommend this place if you're out this way."

We nearly passed by this place, but I'm so glad we didn't. The staff was welcoming and let us in early, and the food was outstanding. It was exactly what we needed!

Yes please! The special was an artichoke w truffle aioli. What? Amaze balls! Added a scrambled egg taco that was light and fluffy. Stop in and see what is on the menu!

We LOVED everything about this place. Great staff, great food, great quirky decor and music. Oh and the food is outstanding! Every bite was wonderful. One of my favorite restaurants ever!

We arrived near closing time, but they were incredibly welcoming. Food was great, service was quick and very friendly. I bought a loaf of some amazing homemade cherry/ walnut bread to take home, which I love. Beautiful spot! Voir le carte

This is a fantastic place to stop after visiting Ghost Ranch. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The chef's husband is a talented artist, and there’s a lot of beautiful artwork on display. Highly recommended!

Amazing roadside cafe with unsuspected delicious food. We got to talk to the owners who are the chef and artist. The chef Melodie is so talented. The husband is an artist. He and his friend’s beautiful work are for show and sale in the restaurant. Stop here and you will be pleasantly surprised by the food and ambiance.

Quaint and eclectic, this restaurant is nestled in the small town of Abiquiu. There's not much else nearby, but the food is fantastic. The owner, a friendly large white man dressed in an Indian kurta and adorned with big star earrings, adds a unique charm to the experience. We had absolutely fabulous food in a very casual 'New Mexico ' location. Note Trip Advisor indicated it was closed on Tuesday IT IS NOT and it is the day that fresh breads are delivered to be sold. We had spent the morning at Ghost Ranch and wanted really good food. We were both extremely pleased I had their special roasted Artichoke plus the Chicken Green Chile soup (moderately spicy). Both were a big yum. We walked away with a loaf of the Olive bread so very good. Absolutely plan to go here if you are going to Ghost Ranch or to the Georgia o 'keefe house.

Cafe Sierre Negra is a wonderful place. We stumbled across it on a trip through Abiquiu,. I ordered the prawn tacos. My husband ordered the fish tacos. We were not disappointed. My plate of prawn (or shrimp if you're American tacos was delicious. The ingredients were really fresh, great presentation the corn tortillas were so good, probably the best I've ever tasted hands down!The atmosphere is vibrant, creative and unpretentious. Ordered the Basque cheese cake which was incredible. We enjoyed talking to the charming and enigmatic Wenche. One of the other servers was also great to talk to. She was dressed so stylishly we talked about sewing projects. : Also the woman who baked the cheesecake...
