"My husband and I enjoyed a nice meal at Patras Gyros. Though it was a weird time to eat (between 2-3pm) there were lots of people picking up takeout orders. We chose to eat at one of their 4 little tables. It's not fancy-you walk up to the counter and order. Food is all disposable, down to the plastic cutlery, even for dining in. We tried the lentil soup to start with, which was nicely spiced. My husband ordered the lamb gyros platter, which he liked. It comes with a generous portion of Greek salad, a half round of flatbread,!rice and 2 sauces of your choice. He opted for the spicy red and garlic sauces, which both complemented the meal nicely. I got the chicken souvlaki platter. It had 2 chicken kebabs and the same sides. I got tziki sauce and the garlic sauce. The garlic was my favorite. For dessert we shared baklava. My pic shows one but it came with two. My husband ate one before I got a pic of it!The prices here are very reasonable for the generous portions. If you're in the Hazel Dell neighborhood, give this little place a try. We'll be back (but maybe for takeout next time)."

"Looking for a piece of “old Vancouver” and a solid affordable, homestyle breakfast? Look no further than Joe Brown’s! Walking in is like stepping back in to the 1950s, complete with super experienced waitstaff that call you “hon” or “dear.” It’s always packed, so get there early if you don’t want to wait in line. The menu is pretty much straight up American fare with reasonable prices for large, well prepared food. Eggs are cooked just the way you want them. They have omelettes, pancakes, waffles, hash browns, bottomless coffee and it just feels warm and cozy. A Vancouver tradition and a must go to breakfast spot. I have only eaten breakfast there, but I seem to remember lunch items too and a kids menu, maybe. Anyway, eat there! Support a wonderful, local part of Vancouver history!"

"Whisper it on the wind in quiet subdued tones, call it from the highest peaks whipped by chilled winds! Those two magic syllables, Curry! Like a prayer on a cold day or a song on a full moon, Curry! Hurry for Curry! Specifically Peanut Curry! Portioning carefully into white rice, the careful balance so you don?t end up with leftover rice or god forbid, leftover curry. A good bit of bite, but not overpowering, a delicate crunch to the veggies, savory and slightly sweet, and most importantly, a little brittle crunch to the roasted peanuts. Why do I always break out in a sweat when eating curry? Thankful for the mild Lime balanced tea, thankful for the good service and the peaceful space to settle into my lunch and listen to a good book, not The Good Book, just a good book with a good narrator. Good food and a good story, Vancouver may be missing a lot of things, but good Thai is not one of them."

"My favorite spot for beef pho! I always order it to go, and it’s packaged really well. The broth is rich and flavorful without being too overpowering with cinnamon or star anise. The meat is abundant and sliced thin. You also get a generous portion of onion slices, bean sprouts, lime wedges, basil, jalapeños, and both hoisin and sriracha sauces. The owners are kind and friendly, so don’t let the restaurant’s small, homey appearance put you off; this place serves excellent pho that you definitely need to try!"

"I have been to this place on numerous occasions and I have to say then do a pretty good job on presentation. However I think that tends to sway most people's perception, as the quality of the food is mediocre at best. Ordered a Sushi Tower it came with some Poke on top that was absolutely dripping with an overly sweet sriracha sauce. Absolutely inedible. To add insult to injury it had just a few flakes of imitation krab salad and 2 little chunks of avocado in it. 85% rice. $20 thank you. I'm not sure what America's obsession is, putting Sriracha on Sushi. The Japanese will be a horrified to find out that's what we're doing. You can't even find Sriracha in Japan. I've deduced that people rate sushi restaurants on how spicy their sriracha sauce is. It looks like you've all been duped. The pot stickers were also in edible. They were boiled and not even drained. Filled with unflavored water soaking wet. The tempura was overly battered and undercooked. It was still wet and pasty on the inside, an absolute turn off. The quality of their fish is the same as most places. Previously frozen and sometimes not thawed out all the way. Add to this that some rude waitress refused to seat us an hour and 15 minutes before they closed. Seemed a bit lazy to me. I won't be returning. I see this time and time again. People around here just don't seem to know any better"
