"We often take the expression fine dining with a pinch of salt when used by the restaurant to describe themselves......but, there is no question that this beautiful little restaurant, tucked away in the corner of an exquisite mall in Edgartown, MV fits the bill and then some. The rooms (smallish main, bar area, various outdoor seating options, are all intimate and very comfortable. The service is both professional and warm, and unusually enthusiastic about the chef 's abilities. I have a feeling that you could order almost anything on the menu and be delighted beyond your expectations. We had some scallops that were a delicious appetizer, and they were an appetizer not meal killer. The braised short ribs were like butter, and the flavors of the ribs and the accompanying risotto were subtle and delicious. We wish the were closer to were we lived (San Diego) a reason to return to Martha 's Vineyard. Do NOT miss this place if you visit Edgartown, and reserve well in advance."

Great experience from start to finish. Servers were excellent and food exceptional. Had the panzanella salad, rack of lamb, and blueberry bread pudding. Every bite was delicious and memorable.

Fantastic cuisine, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection! Artichokes out of this world Great outdoor setting too! We loved all our dishes and are only sorry Détente closed next week for the season. But we will be back!

Detente has always been my favorite Martha's Vineyard restaurant. Last night confirmed that opinion. We had outside seating with heating lamp. Setting was beautiful, service exceptional and food delicious/beautifully presented, as usual. Never disappoints!
