Decided to stop by after a day at SeaWorld with the kids. Ordered a pepperoni pizza to share with them not really expecting anything special and it was the best pizza I've had for a while. Service was great too.

We were on the hunt for a place to enjoy a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated. Our waitress quickly brought us our drinks and some bread. We ordered the Chicken Parmesan and a personal pizza, and both dishes were excellent. The pizza, in particular, was outstanding! Fifty years ago, when I was 16 and my sister was 18, we would fill my brother-in-law’s '52 Chevy with a quarter's worth of gas and drive across San Diego to Filippi’s on India Street for the best pizza in town! We’d dash through the deli at the front to avoid the strong smells of the dried fish and massive cheese logs hanging around. After all these years, I still haven’t found better pizza. I guess my review is fifty years overdue!

Family owned and run establishment and it shows. The staff is very friendly and helpful when trying to make decisions on a hungry stomach. The food they prepare is delicious with a home-cooked taste and not just another quick restaurant. The pizza ? is made Chicago deep-dish style with the cheese ? melted over the top, instead of the traditional toppings on top of the cheese. This was my 1st time visiting and I am looking forward to checking out their other locations around the area.

The Filippi's restaurants have the best pizza hands down. They put the toppings under the cheese so they stay moist and don't dry out or burn like at every other pizza shop I've ever ordered from. We got the Meat Lovers large pizza. It comes with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, and Canadian bacon. It was a carnivore's dream. The outer crust was crispy and the slices were foldable, like New York pizza. There is a perfect balance of sauce and cheese. This is my go to place when I'm craving excellent pizza. The pizza and torpedoes here are consistently excellent. The pizza has a distinctive flavor, thanks to the cheese and an amazing crust, regardless of the toppings you choose. We relocated to the Vegas area four years ago, but every time we visit San Diego, we make it a point to stop by Filippi's for lunch or dinner. The torpedoes are also fantastic; we always order one with extra lettuce. Today, the staff member who assisted us at the front counter, Garrett, was outstanding—very friendly and helpful. It was truly exemplary customer service.

Went on Mother?s Day for the first time. Decided to go right when they opened in anticipation for crowds. Very few people when we arrived so was thinking we would be able to get our food pretty quickly. Got our table immediately and ordered garlic bread. Our lovely waitress had it out to us within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, it was 30-40 minutes before we got our meal. There weren?t that many people there yet but only one waiter/waitress on each side and they were doing their best. Food was excellent but they definitely needed much more help on such a busy day.

When we got there, the place was surprisingly quiet, and I thought we would receive our food quickly. We were seated right away, and we ordered garlic bread, which our friendly waitress brought out within five minutes. Unfortunately, we had to wait about 30 to 40 minutes for our main meals to arrive. Although the restaurant wasn’t too busy at that time, there was only one server for each section, and they were doing their best.
