I visit this restaurant frequently and have always had a wonderful experience with my meals. It's one of my favorite spots in New Orleans. The food and service are consistently outstanding. I typically order the gulf fish featured on the menu and enjoy it alongside an amazing cocktail or wine.

The service was exceptional, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The duck liver mousse, beef tartare, pork terrine, lamb ribs, spätzle, hanger steak, salads, and squash were all fantastic. Among the two desserts, the chocolate cake stood out as the clear favorite, while the goat milk custard was quite interesting. The orange wine was delightful as well. I can't wait to return often!

The menu frequently changes, which may not appeal to some, but it's exactly why I've returned so many times. You can't even experience that at Commander’s Palace anymore. They must have a talented chef who takes pride in experimenting with new dishes. It's rare to find that in a city increasingly focused on serving the same old fare to tourists. I had a fantastic experience at the Franklin. We sat at the bar while I met up with two friends, and we enjoyed some cocktails together. I ordered the grilled octopus and roasted cauliflower, both of which were outstanding. The octopus was cooked to perfection. The bartender provided excellent service, and the host welcomed us with a warm greeting. The entrance is conveniently located off the street, which is helpful for those who need it. Although I didn’t check out the dining area, the overall atmosphere of the Franklin is cozy, romantic, and trendy.

After that, things went downhill. We found ourselves sitting with empty glasses for 15 minutes at a time, which is not what you expect when you're at a bar. Staff members avoided making eye contact and didn’t check in to see if we needed anything. Eventually, we requested the check, but once again, we waited another 15 minutes without anyone attending to us. The waitress eventually spotted my card while passing by, and on her third trip behind the bar for drinks for her table, she grabbed it and handed it to the bartender. I have to thank her; she’s now my favorite person from this experience.

The fish special was Amberjack served with asparagus and a hash cake. The fish was outstanding and perfectly cooked. However, the potato hash cake was not a cake at all; it was an overcooked sauté that had a strange, gummy texture and lacked crispness, which made it unappealing. There also seemed to be a lack of management present on the floor. One of the fine dining waitstaff was well-dressed in a shirt and tie, while the other appeared less professional in a faded band T-shirt. Our server was so busy that she neglected to clear our finished plates, even when she was lingering around asking if we needed anything. The Franklin has definitely seen better days!
