"We had a great dinner here this weekend and definitely look forward to returning in the future! We'd had a fun day of cider and wine tasting when the mood for dinner became our priority. We didn't have reservations, but luckily, on a Saturday, shortly after five, we were able to get seated right as we arrived. Our server was so gracious and welcoming, very professional. He looked into questions we had about gluten-free options and was certain to let the kitchen staff know we had two celiacs at the table. We had escargot and french onion soup for our appetizers. The escargot was flavorful and cooked well. The husband of mine and one of our friends shared the soup. The very particular husband of mine said it was one of the best french onion soups he's had. We ordered all gf for the mains and shared two bacon wrapped filets with two different sauces, gf gnocchi with scallops and pesto, and gf pork belly bolognese with gf gnocchi. The steaks were flavorful and good, though not to the med-rare temp we'd ordered. The pasta dishes were both excellent, with the bolognese being the table favorite. We had no room for dessert, but we very thoroughly enjoyed our meal and drinks. The excellent service and romantically lit ambiance made it a place we'll definitely be returning to."

Waitress was not very good or helpful and she took forever to even greet us. Food was ok but not worth the price.

Best Chocolate Martini I've had in 10 years! Hunter created it just for me. This Texas lady is loving Alchemy and Port Townsend.

Alchemy is a great restaurant for a nice high-priced dinner. They have limited hours so a reservation is necessary. The food was excellent and the presentation was impressive. There is a small bar area adjacent to the main restaurant that has good ambiance. We will return.

Great authentic old school classic Italian restaurant! The service was amazing. There is a server there whose name we didn't get, but he is so fun and definitely loves his job. The female staff member also welcomed us and was very hospitable. We simply loved this place. Crab tots were full of crab meat and nothing else. The crab cakes elsewhere can be full of potatoes and very little meat. The angel hair pasta was full of fresh Pomodoro sauce! Chianti was delicious! View menu

We have lived here 30 years and this is absolutely the best ribeye Port Townsend has seen in that time. The meat is top quality, the preparation is par excellence. Two can share it and be satisfied. The vegetables were perfectly prepared and fresh. The dinner rolls are fresh, hot, and also the best in town. My martini was generous and properly prepared. My wife's Malbec was outstanding. The service was prompt and courteous. The ambiance is very nice. A perfect place for a date or special occasion.

I ordered the Dungeness crab tots, for $22. We actually sent it back to the kitchen when they brought it out because we were positive they sent out the wrong dish. Turns out when I thought I was ordering a basket of tots, what I really got was 3 tot sized crab cakes. 3 stars because even though I got bamboozled, the crab tots were good (not $22 good). The kebabs and fries were tasty and met expectations, and the atmosphere was intimate. Also... y 'all need to cover your exposed electrical outlets.

Since my last review, I have been back here a couple of times and had very pleasant experiences. Special praise goes to the burrata caprese appetizer and the lamb shank, both of which I would come back for all the way from Seattle. I would even go as far as saying it's the best lamb shank you can find in Washington. It's so wonderfully prepared. Falling of the bone in its own juices to die for. As far as I can tell, Alchemy stands out in Port Townsend with its cozy amiance, and the service is great as well. PS: I no longer see the offensive item of my last review on the menu. View menu

I love every single thing about this restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful, so relaxing. The food is fantastic. Since this place was taken over by new management a couple of years ago, it has completely changed in terms of the food. I am not a picky eater, but it was, not long ago, inedible. Not anymore! The steak is comparable to any steak I have had in the Northwest. The angel hair pomodoro is currently my favorite food in town. Can't get enough of this place. Plan to order a pastrami sandwich this week because the chef knows what good pastrami is supposed to taste like, and I can't find a good pastrami on the west coast.

Torn between a 3 and a 4, but given my personal experience, it is a three. The good: So cute, so old school love the old world vibe, nice place to sit and eat I loved our waitress/host, super sweet, absolutely adorable librarian type lady that you just want to be friends with my daughter and friend really enjoyed their meals one had a burger and one had the most amazing looking clams with pasta The bad: wine was off my pasta was entirely undercooked, not al dente, plainly undercooked and straight from a bag scallops were few and they were overcooked some items are wildly overpriced in short, my meal was awful Perhaps had I ordered the clams this might be a 4 or 5 but my meal was pretty rough...

"My wife and I stopped by this place after having it recommended to us by a friend. Unfortunately, our experience was less than ideal. We arrived at the end of breakfast as they were transitioning into lunch, so we were understandably asked to wait 20-30 minutes and enjoy a beverage while we waited. We decided this was acceptable and we took a seat. It ended up taking at least 15 minutes to get waters delivered and then another 15 minutes to get menus. Once we ordered, it took another 15 minutes to receive our food. With other things like waiting to be seated and waiting to place our order, it took approximately an hour before we ate. We also noticed that other tables who had arrived far after us were served first. When the food arrived, my wife's fried chicken burger was somewhat small and the potato salad side was bland and had hard potatoes. My Manila clam lunch special was fine, but for a lunch meal, it felt like there were fewer clams than in an appetizer version of this dish that I've had at many other places. During our meal, we were never checked on by the waitress, nor offered refills (despite her walking by us with the water pitcher), and we generally felt dismissed despite several attempts at eye contact. We also overheard other customers commenting about the small portion sizes. Overall, the food was not bad, but the service could use improvement. Other patrons seemed to be more willingly catered to, so we are not sure if our disparate treatment was because we are not locals or for other reasons."
