"Wanted to love it. The food was good. The guys working there were nice enough. We had written saying it was our anniversary and that we were hoping for a nice table. They put us in the bar area and didn’t acknowledge our anniversary in any way. Then they brought us a different wine than what we ordered which, not surprisingly, was $30 more. A retail malbec one can get anywhere for $14. I didn’t make a thing of it because I didn’t want to kill the vibe on my date, but when you’re spending $300 plus for two people you expect really good service and a little extra care. A candle on the table would have gone a long way too, but the vibe was closer to an autobody shop where we were sitting. People shouting at each other. I was ready to love it but the bait and switch on the wine and not even a “happy anniversary” means I don’t think I’m going back."

"this is without argument the best restaurant in fairfield, and the best Indian restaurant in connecticut. based on food quality alone, the restaurant gets 6 stars of 5. there is no competition for the taste that the cook produce, and if they want a certain taste that is not on the menu, they will not only make it for them, but they will make them a world class dish without prior preparation of their specific choice of taste. they are expert. Moreover, the portion sizes are absolutely massif, while the prices are the same as those of any other restaurant that has normal portion sizes and average food quality. the service is the highlight of taj. for example are alex and sumesh, which are very talented chefs/servers, two of the most authentic people I have ever met. each question was immediately looked out, and when it came up that it was the birthday of my mother, they immediately came with an authentic vegetable cake (my mother is a vegetarian) free, with a candle in it, and sang happy birthday. after a nice talk with them, Alex has given up our food to take home and since the portions are so large, it will eat delicious in the refrigerator for days. Moreover, they offer take-out and delivery and the large portion sizes, great prices and authentic and top-notch aroma do not change at least."

"Now, let’s talk about the dumplings—there are no words to describe how amazing they were. These dumplings are heavenly, far better than many dim sum and dumpling places in the city. They were out of this world—soft and light, yet the dough held together perfectly even when I used chopsticks. The first bite released a burst of rich, porky soup broth. At first, I took a half bite, not knowing what to expect, and lost most of the soup inside. Realizing my mistake, I went for a whole bite, and it was worth every bit, even if it meant my gums took a beating. They were so good I ordered a second helping and happily continued to savor them. I was initially skeptical of the bar/pub vibe, but this place truly deserves 5 stars. You know it’s the real deal when they keep all the toppings readily available on the table instead of serving them in tiny sauce bowls. Overall, it’s a 10/10 and 5 stars all the way. I really hope they stick around for a long time!"

"From start to finish this was not just dinner. It was an experience of all your senses. Relaxing music in the background. Food and drinks created like artwork. Food hit all of the taste buds. The decor was trendy. This place is perfect for a date night or a large party. They make the accommodations. All of the food and drinks were freshly made. I will say they had the best New England Clam Chowder EVER! EVER!!!!! I fully recommend their vast selection of craft beers and specialty drinks. My compliments to the Chefs and all of the Staff! 5 stars! We will be back! This is definitely a hidden gem within Connecticut. When you visit…..ask for Franklin as your Waiter."

"Came here with family for my birthday and were pleasantly surprised. We got Tom Yum Soup, pork steamed dumplings, and chicken satay for appetizers, then for main course we had drunken noodles and hot basil chicken. I personally thought that all of the food was amazing and completely exceeded our expectations. All of the food was pleasantly spicy and the staff was very nice. Overall it was a very nice restaurant and I definitely recommend.(especially the drunken noodle and dumplings"
