"I love to support local caffes and hopefully find new ones to add my favorite list. we live in durham and have a full of excellent coffee shops with locally roasted beans. when we found ourselves shopping in Morrisville/Cary furniture yesterday, I searched google and found meeple’s close by with excellent reviews. I didn't know this was the board game coffee shop I heard from until I got in. I think that explains the high ratings and popularity, not necessarily the coffee. I admit, the board game spectacle is pretty cool. the reason I give this 2 stars is because 1 the coffee is waaaaay more expensive than any other coffee shop in the triangle; 2 the espresso roast is a bit burned tasting like dieucks, but not terrible; and 3 the service is incredibly slow. I ordered an ice-cold latte with milk. this drink cost me $7 before the drink. for a 16 ounce drink! at the day before I had $6 for the best tasting hafermilch mocha I had in a local coffee shop and it was a 24 oz drink (new world caffe in raleigh.) so the quality doesn’t add to the extravagant cost of espresso drinks at meeple’s when compared to the dozens of other local coffee shops we have visited the these are airport prices! the drink was decent, not the best lavendel latte I had (cloche coffee in durham deserved this title in front of location, the well coffee shop in boston deserves the highest honor), so I admit it for the greatest part, but it was not worth the price tag. the brat wasn't my favorite. it had a bit of a burning taste like dieucks is famous. because I had a lavender latte, it was more subtle, but I could still say that it was roasted in the aftertaste. my man tasted it and was not a fan of espressos, although his favorite drink is a lavender. he only took one and said that was enough. Maybe we're just coffee-snobs, because we're the type that pays $25/lb for 100% cona coffee beans and they're regularly sent to us. I expect the price to be the same as the quality. the service was also very slow. it took 10 minutes to go my icy latte. during this time the girl made only 1 latte and a cup of tea for a few dining rooms. other coffee shops would have scrubbed 10 cups in the same time. the place was busy playing with people games, but don't order coffee drinks. only 2 other customers came in the 10 minutes I waited, and they got their coffee pretty fast as they were cold roast coffees that did not need the espresso machine. so it was not as if they were so busy or with orders secured. there was literally only one in front of me to make one of these objects only a cup of tea that does not require much effort. they had 3 employees, but apparently only this one girl could drink an espresso while the others were busy. the concept is unique and interesting, but I will not return. the price marking did not justify the quality or the lack of this of the small one. I think what they really pay is the experience, not the product."
