"I really wanted to love this restaurant but unfortunately it fell a little short. The location is great directly adjacent to the Turtle Bay resort lobby (maybe a 1 minute walk) and with spectacular ocean and beach views. The food was really good I would really recommend the pineapple butter rum cake for dessert, the twice cooked ribs, and the yuzu maki roll. The service was friendly and welcoming, but the pacing of the service was off the food arrived quickly but the drinks arrived slowly. The champagne with our apps and the cocktails with dinner both arrived a few minutes after the food. While it may seem like a small thing, it was noticeable and not what I wanted (or expected). I would try it again next time I’m there but maybe order drinks first and wait to order food?"

Our Server Abbey was extremely knowledgeable of the food and drink menu. We were telling her how we were impressed with her service and she said she was in training! The pineapple infused martini was really good. The Atmosphere was nice.

Joe and Christian who were new to The Beach House…we’re amazing and made our experience memorable. They went above and beyond to give our family a fantastic lunch experience. The Beach House also had a musician who was great; just the right laid-back song list. Also, fantastic view of the beach and ocean on a perfect day.

"Rainbow House Shave Ice on the North Shore is an absolute delight and a must-visit spot if you’re in the area. Whether you’re craving a refreshing treat or looking for a quick bite, this place has it all. Shave Ice: The shave ice here is top-notch—light, fluffy, and drenched in delicious syrups that come in a variety of flavors. The flavors are vibrant and true to taste, whether you go for the traditional favorites like strawberry and pineapple or opt for more unique combinations. Each serving is generous, and you can customize your shave ice with add-ons like ice cream or sweetened condensed milk for an extra indulgent treat. Drinks Food: Besides their famous shave ice, Rainbow House also offers a selection of excellent drinks and food. The drinks are refreshing and well-prepared, perfect for cooling down on a hot day. Their food menu is reasonably priced, with options that are both tasty and satisfying—whether you’re in the mood for something light or a more substantial meal. Service: The service at Rainbow House is simply the best. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and quick to make sure you have everything you need. Their warm hospitality makes the experience even more enjoyable, and it’s clear that they take pride in what they do. Pricing: For the quality and quantity you get, the prices are very reasonable. It’s great to find a place that offers such high quality without breaking the bank, especially in a popular tourist area like the North Shore. Parking can often be a challenge on the North Shore, but Rainbow House has plenty of spots, making it easy to stop by without any hassle. Overall: Rainbow House Shave Ice is a fantastic spot to cool off and enjoy some of the best shave ice on the island. The combination of excellent food, refreshing drinks, top-tier service, and reasonable prices makes this a standout location on the North Shore. Don’t miss it if you’re in the area—you’ll leave with a smile on your face and maybe even a second round of shave ice in hand!"

Fumi's Kahuku Shrimp Truck

Fumi's Kahuku Shrimp Truck

"First of all, the location has changed and they have rebranded. They are no longer called Fumi's; they're now Tanaka Shrimp, and they occupy a large space with ample outdoor seating about 100 yards from the original Fumi's shrimp shack. It seems like they cater to a lot of tour groups, and I'm not sure if that has affected the quality of the food. We had fairly high expectations going in due to all the rave reviews, but our meal turned out to be disappointing. We ordered the butter garlic shrimp and the spicy butter garlic shrimp plates. Each plate came with approximately 6 or 7 shrimp, some mushy rice, and a slice of pineapple. Honestly, for the price, receiving 6 or 7 shrimp feels a bit stingy. While the shrimp was acceptable, it wasn't remarkable. From what I understand, the shrimp should be fried before being coated in the garlic butter sauce, but what we tasted at Fumi's seemed more like boiled or lightly pan-seared shrimp. The shells were tough, the shrimp had a gummy texture, and they were somewhat bland. The butter sauce added some flavor, but it felt like it was simply poured over the shrimp after cooking, which wasn't very appealing. In contrast, the shrimp we had at Big Wave Shrimp Truck was deep-fried to perfection. The crispy shells absorbed the garlic sauce much better, resulting in a far tastier dish. At Big Wave, the shells were so crispy that you could eat the shrimp whole, shell included! I would recommend skipping Fumi's and exploring other options—personally, I suggest trying Big Wave!"
