"Beets and Carrots serves great food and it’s truly a hidden gem tucked away in Bay Ridge. Probably your best option in Bay Ridge if you don’t want Italian or Middle Eastern food. I’ve been several times (dinner lunch) and the one constant that remains is the wait time for food. The kitchen is small and it’s literally 2 guys in the back cooking for an entire restaurant of guests. The only bathroom in the restaurant is through the kitchen so you’re walking through the gauntlet as the two chefs are cooking. It’s impressive how extensive their menu is considering the size of the kitchen and what they’re able to achieve in it. Beets and Carrots would thrive in another commercial location that can accommodate their business and extensive menu. While the food is tasty, be prepared to wait a while for your food."

The service and food were excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxed but the presentation of the food was sophisticated. The food was delicious!

Russian borscht (the vegan one) was really good. The staff were very friendly. The place itself is nice, too. Will definitely come back to try some other things on the menu.

In terms of fine dining, this is the best place in Bay Ridge. Besides the excellent food and unique menu, the atmosphere is incredible. Every detail about this place is well thought. View menu

The chef at this restaurant is very skilled! This is the second time I've ordered Christmas dinner from Chef Slava and it was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be returning soon!

I have found my new favorite spot in Bay Ridge. The food is incredibly fresh, prepared with creativity, and the menu is one-of-a-kind. A pleasant surprise! Don't miss out, give it a try!

Lovely place, delicious food. Undiscovered gem! My wife and I went here for brunch. They offer an incredible menu with a wide diversity of choices, Food was fantastic. Staff was very friendly. The decor is charming but low key. Felt very homey. Not too busy yet so I would try this place before the word gets out. We're local, but for people visiting Bay Ridge, the cafe is only about 3 blocks from the 95th Street subway stop on the R train. Highly recommend it! View menu

I was taken to this restaurant by a friend tonight. The waiter was extremely friendly, and the food was delicious. The black bread had a delightful aroma and paired nicely with the butter and jelly. We ordered the spinach pasta and cocoa casarecce with lamb. The spinach pasta was a tad salty but overall tasty, while the casarecce had a distinct vegetarian taste that was unexpected but pleasant. Everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. However, one thing that bothered me was when I (a woman) paid the bill with my credit card, the waiter automatically handed the receipt to my friend (a man), which left me feeling a bit annoyed.

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
