"It's hard to find if you don't know where it is, but it's worth the search. The owner was really cool and friendly. Most sandwiches are $5 $7. I had the Chick's Club with chicken salad and bacon on sunflower seed bread, and it was delicious. Fresh bread is big for me on sandwiches, and this one was perfect. I also grabbed one of the brownies, also very good. The service was very quick too. I'll be back again to try their pasta salads and other sandwiches, but I'd definitely recommend it to others. They also do cheap breakfasts if you're on the run and they have soups and breads."

This is a fantastic place for lunch! The food is fresh and delicious, the prices are reasonable, and the service is quick. Be sure to order one of the house-made pickles as a side!

After all this time, I can't understand why COTS hasn't expanded. Their food is always fresh and delicious, and the owner John and his staff are incredibly friendly and efficient. It's definitely worth choosing them over the chain restaurants. View menu

Cafe on the Square is a clean, convenient, local spot near the University of Maryland Hospital and campus. It's a great place to grab a sandwich or get a lunch special sandwich, salad and dessert. The food is really tasty, fresh and prepared quickly,...More

This is the under-the-radar gem you’re looking for: a wide variety of the freshest breakfast lunchtime meals served faster than actual fast food by the kindest, friendliest down-to-Earth folks you’ve ever met. I come multiple times a week with no plans to slow down : View menu

I've known on this place since 2002 but haven't gone in a while. I went on this past Wednesday and then still have. The energetic owner, the ambiance, the massive influx of UMMS staff... it hasn't changed. And if you go for anything, go for the Carnival pasta. It has me sold then and it still slaps now.

I was fortunate to work in the same building for a month, and during that time, I ate at this restaurant 2-3 times a week. I was never let down. There are no secret sauces, fancy menus, or gimmicks here—just fantastic sandwiches! If I had my own deli, bakery, and fresh produce, this is the sandwich I would create for myself. The staff is friendly and wonderful, and the salads are excellent. There are no frills or self-promotion here; just outstanding sandwiches.

"Highly recommend Sweet Peaz Southern Kitchen! The food is served fresh and hot. We were a party of eight and ordered Fried Whiting with Yams and Mac n Cheese, Chicken and Waffles, Fried Chicken Wings, Chicken Tenders, Fried Shrimp, French Fries, and Collard Greens. The Sweet Potato Waffles were absolutely delicious! The fried chicken, shrimp, and fish were cooked perfectly and tasted as good as they looked. The seasoning was just right—not too salty, allowing the flavors to shine. The yams and collards were a real treat for the taste buds. And the cornbread? Simply amazing. My only disappointment was that the first taste was free (haha). The Mac n Cheese was decent, but the Chicken Tenders didn’t quite live up to their name; however, they did remake them for us to take home. The space is small and simple, with old-school music that adds to the enjoyable dining experience. They limit dining to one hour to ensure everyone can enjoy the food, which I appreciate—I dislike when people linger for too long when others are waiting. The staff were friendly, making us feel valued and appreciated. Prices are reasonable. One downside was that many items were unavailable, including grits—which was a big letdown since I was looking forward to the famous Shrimp and Grits—as well as butter, potato salad, seafood salad, and tartar sauce. I recommend calling ahead if you’re craving a specific dish. Despite this, it was a great dining choice and lived up to the positive reviews. Overall, we left satisfied and would gladly return. Parking is street parking only, as there’s no dedicated lot."
