Chicken N Spice - Menu

The chicken chunks have an Authentic taste that’s been fantastic for over 30 years from when I use to go to the one in Joliet. The home cut fries are equally amazing.

The reviews claimed they had the best fried chicken around, but I have to disagree. We dined in, and I had to return my food to the counter because the wedges were cold. While waiting for fresh food, we tried the onion rings and jalapeño poppers, which were quite good. However, the chicken was lacking in seasoning, although it was very crispy.

Used to frequent the Joliet location whenever I could was surprised to see this location in Orland Hills. Was a little disappointed in the rice was not as good as I remembered, but the chicken hands down is the best around, KFC and Popeyes have nothing on this place plus the people who work here are personable efficient, this place is a winner ? We began visiting this restaurant right when it opened and had great experiences at first. However, for a while, the service declined. Today, we arrived just five minutes before closing, and the two older staff members were absolutely amazing! Shoutout to the closing crew on 7/7/23 — you guys really know how to deliver! The restaurant is also extremely clean!

The food was excellent—hot and fresh. I arrived right when my Carry-Out order was being finished. However, I wish there had been another staff member at the counter to help, as the family ahead of me was new to Chicken-N-Spice and had a lot of questions about the menu and the prices of various combinations. Additionally, I wasn't very fond of the slot machine area in the restaurant, but I suppose that’s becoming commonplace these days.

The cashier wasn't very friendly upon greeting us. Despite having worked here for over a year, she didn't seem to know who the owners were. When I asked about the meat options, she couldn't distinguish between white and dark meat. Additionally, her grammar while speaking to customers could use some improvement. As for the food, it was just okay—nothing impressive. My wife and I decided to give this place a try, but it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. View menu

The chicken sandwich here has a nice kick to it, but the regular bone-in chicken lacks that spice. There was only one employee taking orders at the front and in the drive-thru, while two were cooking in the back. The woman at the counter struggled to handle a bag while taking orders. Unfortunately, our order was incomplete, and we weren't charged for everything we needed, so we had to go through the checkout process again. The bone-in chicken was decent, but overall, the service was quite poor.

I love the chunks and the variety of food, however, this place is very expensive for the food you get. I paid over 7 bucks for waffles and 2 chunks and you hardly get full. Sure they add a chicken salad, that I didn't eat, because why do I want chicken salad with my waffle? Keep the salad and add another chunk! The place was very clean. There's even slot machines in the store. That's different. They don't offer discounts for military service. Overall, it's just ok for me, but I probably won't go back.

The Chicken breast chunks are really big. I made the mistake of ordering the #1 best seller George and Eddie (3 breast chunks, small spicy rice, small JoJo's potato wedges, small drink) with 6 extra chunks on the side. I thought the chunks were going to be small. Big mistake, those chunks are huge. It's literally a chicken breast cut in half. I know what the sign said but I didn't believe it. My husband had the 4 piece chicken dinner. The rice is spicy and everything came out hot and fresh. The lemonade was very good as well. The bbq sauce is good with a little kick. We will go back.
