"I have never paid so much for bad Chinese food. The sweet and sour chicken is NOT sweet and sour chicken! It's more like BBQ smothered over cooked and fatty chicken. It even has peppers in it. My fried rice, which I had to order a full side of (at almost $7) bc they wouldn't substitute the white rice, was not even cooked all the way. The spring rolls were tiny and no different than the ones you can buy in the frozen section. My husband said the General Tso's Chicken was ehhh, same overcooked and fatty chicken with a different sauce. The Crab Rangoon is only 4 pieces... only 4! What a complete disappointment! And I paid over $50 for the jou of being disappointed"

"Great, non-chain, Japanese steak house. The best hand rolled sushi in southern Illinois. The owner is the manager, head chef, and rolls all the sushi right at the front counter. Her children make up all of the rest of the staff. Great great food and atmosphere that remains remarkable and adorable. Vegetarian options: There are vegetable only dishes and rolls. "We were in town for the evening and searching for a dog friendly spot so the pup did not have to stay in the hotel. We came across Global Gourmet. The atmosphere was casual and inviting out on the back patio. The music selection was great and we thouroghly enjoyed our dining experience. We started with a Caprese salad which was fresh and flavorful. Our entrees were tasty as well but the desserts were out of this world delicious, an apple bread pudding and a chocolate raspberry slice of pure heaven. Honestly our favorite part of the evening was as we were leaving chatting with the owners of the establishment. Two great people with some amazing stories. You can tell they put lots of love in to their establishment. We will make sure to stop by again when we are coming through town."

"Service was exceptional! I walked in on a Tuesday evening and only seen one staff member, same guy was taking orders, serving and cleaning. I was exhausted for him but he didn't seem phased and offered great service despite having a 3/1 job. The place was clean with ample seating. They have menus you can scan and order directly at the table. Initially I ordered take-out bc there were small children present who were loud. Once my food was ready, the children left and they gladly allowed me to dine in with my take out bag. The food was made to order, took barely 15 mins. There was a large portion of chicken and rice but small portion of salad. The chicken required some salt but overall it was good. The pastry was abnormally small but traditionally delicious. I'll be back to try other menu items. Definitely patronize them! Carbondale needs more restaurants! There is street parking and a lot across the street, free. They are closed on Mondays!"

"There’s service, then there is service by Sophia at Sunny Street Cafe in Carbondale. I dine out a lot. I see service all across the spectrum, but in my opinion Sophia leads the way. What else, most of the staff here is in my top rankings for service provided. I appreciate how friendly they are and how welcoming this crew makes us feel. They say unique things to us, which makes us feel special and remembered. They smile, but nothing forced. they tend to our needs ideally. That’s just the front of the house though. Each meal I’ve ordered, has been yummy. I’ve had the I may get these names wrong but let’s see sunnys skillet so good, I’ve had cinnamon roll pancakes, I’ve tasted some delicious salad my precious wife ordered, ... the folks in the back are making it happen. I’d go more if I didn’t want to be the weird regular."
