"We made a reservation a week before the actual date. We had a 4pm reservation. Apon arrival we were told they were behind, and we would be seated in ten minutes. After the ten minutes we arrived at our table. There was food on one of our chairs, and the smell coming out of the carpet was strong and unpleasant. It smelled like mildew or mold. We sat unattended and ignored for ten more minutes. When the server finally arrived, she said she didn't even know she had our table to tend to. She apologized for the wait, and took our drink order. We sat for another ten minutes without even being brought water. I looked around for our server and saw she was in some sort of argument with what looked like the manager. A patron from a different table left her chair to get the server's attention as they were waiting to pay their check. The server dismissed the lady by saying she would be with her in another minute, and went right back to her previous conversation. I had seen enough at that point. We arrived at 3:30 pm. We were told we wouldn't be seated until 4pm. That was fine. But it was now 4:40 pm and we hadn't even gotten water at our table. Our party of 4 decided this wasn't for us. We got up and left quietly. One person asked if everything was OK on our way out, I said no, but we were all done, thanks. This was the first time we have ever walked out of a restaurant. I hope they can fix their issues. Our party was uncomfortable and not impressed with the lack of attention from the staff."

"Really like this place. The food is good and the service is quick and friendly. The lady who takes your order, I think her name is Rissa, is super kind and pleasant. Always greeting people in the nicest way! You just feel the warmth as soon as you walk in. So far, I have been here twice and had pleasant experiences both times. Oh and there is a young guy there who is handsome and nice as well . I wonder if he is single lol. Will definitely be back when I am in the area though. It’s hard finding a local place with not only good food but also great friendly service."

"It was our first time and had dinner early on Friday and our water glasses were never less than 3/4 full. Service was outstanding. The bread is phenomenal. The branzino is the best I’ve had. The pork chop huge and delicious. And the pasta was light and perfect. They offer wine flights being able to choose from their entire wine by the glass offering."

"Finally this Chicago gal found a Middle Eastern food mart and restaurant nearby. If you come on Sunday they have a buffet. I dare you not to leave without ordering takeout or staying to dine the restaurant. Great variety of baklava, beans, seeds, seasonings and teas. Oh yeah, this place is connected with Grubhub and DoorDash so you can order from home and enjoy!"

"When I’m in or near Merrillville on business, I always choose The Original Grand Park Cafe to dine. Delicious food with layers of flavors. Warm and comforting atmosphere. Staff members, Jose and Jessica, have always made me feel so welcome when I’m far away from home. I cannot express just how much I love this cafe. It doesn’t matter if it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the food is amazing for very reasonable prices considering the taste."
