"We have been regular customers at this restaurant for a few years, to the point where he staff know us and even what drinks we like. We went there on a Friday night expecting a nice experience as usual. I was dismayed to see a table of about 10 people sitting up front. This was a bad omen, as the kitchen and the staff can never keep up with the other tables when there is a large group in a relatively small restaurant. Happens every time. We were seated and got some drinks. The waitress was not knowledgeable about the menu and described the hanger steak as a skirt steak, which it is not. I asked about the Provencal onion tart, and whether is was similar to a quiche, she replied, yes. It arrived and was a pile of sautéed onions, resembling worms, sitting in a dessert tart shell (very sweet, not savory). Nothing like what we discussed. I could not eat it. She saw this and didn't offer me anything in it's place. We ordered drinks to have with our appetizers but they didn't arrive until after the plates were cleared so I was stuck with a martini to have with my entrée. The duck confit was smothered to death in a thick heavy wine sauce with way too many mushrooms. Dessert was basically a slice of banana bread drowned in chocolate sauce. Our server was covering too many tables and not attentive to us at all. She seemed about 16 years old. The owner made her rounds to say to everyone but ignored us, regular customers. The anniversary price fixe menu had a supplemental price on over 50% of the items, including the terrible onion tart which contained no ingredients that would warrant a supplement. Just raise the price $5 instead of charging extra for almost everything. We will not return, as they made no attempt to make things right for us. What a waste of time and money. This place is getting old and worn out and too lax about lousy service. Service is everything."
