"El Topo has become a family staple for regular dinners+lunches and weekend brunches. They are consistently delicious…prepared with a high level of care, quality ingredients and attention to detail. The menu isn’t vast, which we appreciate a more curated approach to offerings…and the regular items suit both our vegetarians and carnivores. The staff offer a light-touch friendliness and attentiveness. We also appreciate that the owner/chef values their staff so much, that in Jan 2023 they decided to provide an automatic 20% tip on each bill. Thank you for being here!"

Great food. Good service. A/C’s could use a boost — had difficulty keeping up with the humidity (and it’s not even Summer yet.

Came here for a tasting collective event. Omg the best barbacoa I've ever had and the homemade corn tortillas put it over the top! View menu

We first discovered ElTopo in their food truck several years ago and it was AMAZING. We enjoyed brunch today at their restaurant and it was SO GOOD!

Great food! Easy quiet vibe. Was a random find and so happy to have found it. This place is across from a school so no Margaritas on the menu as no full liquor license... but otherwise it's a top choice for delicious Mexican food. View menu

What a fantastic local restaurant! The food was delicious, the service was exceptional, and it made for a wonderful date night with my wife. I can’t recommend this place highly enough for anyone who hasn’t had the chance to try it. You absolutely have to experience it!

Incredible food but felt rushed by our waiter even though there were open tables during our entire meal. I sensed a definite level of irritation over us 3 longtime friends spending time chatting before ordering, even after placing our cocktail orders. That’s what us older girlfriends do….

"I recently flew from Toronto to Houston and decided to dine at this restaurant with family living in the area. I made a reservation for six people, and coincidentally, my uncle had also made a separate reservation for four at the same time. We met by chance in the parking garage and were excited to all be at the same restaurant. When we arrived, the hostess, a Hispanic lady, greeted us, and I explained that we had two separate reservations, but were part of the same family. Her demeanor instantly changed, and she rudely asked, 'What do you mean? ' I calmly repeated that we had made two independent reservations. She responded, 'That’s not how it works, ' as if implying we had intentionally split a larger group into two reservations to bypass some rule, which was not the case at all. To make things worse, she seated us far apart, even though there were many empty tables around. I politely asked if we could sit closer, not together—just near each other—and she flat-out refused, with an attitude that seemed almost discriminatory. It was as if she was trying to prove a point by keeping us separated, despite there being no real reason to do so. This behavior made us feel unwelcome from the start, and it was clear she didn’t want to accommodate us. We asked to speak with the manager, who eventually agreed to seat us closer, but the damage had already been done. Throughout the evening, the energy was negative, and aside from our waiter, who was fantastic, the rest of the staff treated us coldly, making it clear we weren’t wanted there. To top it off, when I went to pay, I was charged a 20% gratuity for a large group, even though we never sat together and these were two separate reservations. It felt incredibly unfair and added to the sense that we were being treated poorly. It’s unfortunate, because while the food was excellent, the hostile attitude from the hostess and the lack of basic hospitality made for a very negative experience. She should not be the face of restaurant"
