"My history with FGB goes back to before I was born (seriously). Circa 1989, my dad carried a FGB chocolate raspberry cake on his lap for the entirety of a four and a half hour flight to California to give to my mom, who he was dating at the time. Needless to say, I probably have FGB to thank in part for being alive. But jokes aside, their cakes are the best, especially the chocolate raspberry. And on the very, very rare occasion that I've had a problem with my order, their customer service (Lauren specifically) has been exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Honestly, I was blown away by how receptive to feedback they were and determined to remedy the situation. You guys are the best, thank you!"

I've been ordering cakes from the French Gourmet for decades, and I've never been let down. Their cakes and baked goods are excellent!

This bakery is one of the best bakeries in Houston. They have some of the best fresh pastries and loaves of bread. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming.

If you want to try real French goodies. It's a must! Small family bakery. The building is so beautiful and the pastries divine. Will come back every time I visit Houston.

I have like the Chocolate Mousse Cake at French Gourmet Bakery for years. The cake has changed from years ago, but is still good just different. It’s now so expensive it would have to be for a majorly important occasion. View menu

The 1/4 sheet Italian Cream cake was delicious, moist and just the right texture. The almond croissant was also very tasty. Service at the French Gourmet is always friendly and helpful! All in all, French Gourmet Bakery is a great experience!

I went in about 10 minutes before lunch ended and got great service and great food. The meat tastes delectable. And bread was fresh and delicious. The price was good for the fresh ingredients that I got. Overall, it was a pleasant experience for lunch.

I order the Chocolate Raspberry cake every year for our anniversary. It was our Groom's cake 28 years ago!! It has been amazing for 28 years and is my husband's favorite thing about our anniversary. Thank you for giving us 28 years of incredibly memories. View menu

French patisserie to be but by name only. The pastries are typically american with lots of hyper sweet cream. We came for lunch and found nothing spectacular with very ordinary sandwiches and quiches at a phenomenal high price. Came once to discover but will definitely not come back.

Stopped by to look for something King Cake-related for Mardi Gras time. They had full-size King Cakes but those are too big for 2 people so I am glad they also had the small Mardi Gras rolls, and we got one of those. Also got a Valentine's Day cupcake. Interior was pleasant and inviting. Staffers were courteous and helpful. There were many tempting sweets and also nice looking bread. Very glad to have stopped by.

"Food good. Location good. Service good. BUT, the hidden charges REALLY ruined an otherwise nice experience. Example: HH menu lists Martinis as a $3 upcharge to the $7 base charge. Fair enough. Bombay is a listed alcohol; requested. When the bill was returned I was charged for a Bombay Sapphire which is not on the HH list. Charge? $11 $3. I asked for Bombay, not Bombay Sapphire. Waiter: Oh, let me look into that. AND, by the way Blue Cheese olives? Extra $1. REALLY? I 've NEVER paid extra for BC olives ANYWHERE. AND the confusing menus that a dish as including an extra sauce, [and I don 't recall the exact language but it made it seem that an additional items could be selected as well. Oops, there goes an extra $10.95. AND, the waiter recommending a twice-baked potato. Bah, boom, another $5.95. [which in fairness is disclosed on the menu in a different location, but waiter made it sound as if it was a no-charge option on the surf and turf. AND the split plate charge which I don 't think was disclosed on the menu. Ding, ding, extra $3.00. Was this a waiter, who was overly up-selling or restaurant deception? Don 't know. As I said, the food WAS good. AND, the ambience [at least in the bar area, stay away of the hotel-ballroom-like main dining area was nice. Just beware the nickel and dime charges that the waiter won 't be disclosing to you."
