"Although the dishes were not heavy, I needed a walk after that feast: the food was delicious and well presented. The menu, with seasonal dishes is not large, that is perfect as it is better to have a small menu well executed than a large menu poorly made. I truly appreciated the fact that they had vegetarian dishes that did not look or taste like sides, but really like complete dishes that would satisfy anybody and not just vegetarians. I also loved the atmosphere of the restaurant: with its neighborhood feel, it reminded me some of the small joints I used to go to in Paris, where you feel welcome and in a way part of a family."

Have been going to Frere de Lys since it opened. It's a great addition to the neighborhood, small and friendly with wonderful food and very attentive owners and staff. They also make a great martini!

Moules M. were the most blan I have ever had, over the last 60 years. No wine flavor, no garlic favor. I did ask that no additional salt be added, but the waiter never told me that would mean they would be in a bland stock. View menu

I dont know if the french just like their food dry and burnt, but that was my experience. The chicken we got was dry and the honey cake had burnt portions. The place is pricey and I would not recommend it. Even if the food was cheaper, I would not recommend it. It is not inedible but there are tons of better places.

Starting with the twenty minutes it took the wait staff to notice us at the bar, ending with one of the worst meals we have ever had, this restaurant should be taken off Open Table. Food was Continental Cuisine at the best, wait staff seemed to be taken off the street, atmosphere was dismal … nothing to say but TERRIBLE!

the very serious formal service that I associate with French eating makes me uncomfortable, which is why I loved this restaurant. relaxed, fast, unpretentious, yet knowledgeable service paired with great food, weeping at a great price and a wonderful staff made this one of my favorite dinners in a long time, for a shocking reasonable price.

I usually feel uneasy with the serious and formal service that is typical of French dining, but I found the complete opposite at this restaurant. The service was relaxed, efficient, unpretentious, and knowledgeable. Combine that with delicious food, reasonably priced wines, and a fantastic staff, and it was one of the best meals I've had in a while, especially considering the surprisingly affordable cost.

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
