"I’m thrilled that Grindhaus is back up and running! I had dinner there with a friend recently, and we shared the celery root fritters, potato dumplings, shrimp buns, and the burger. Everything was delicious and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed our meal on the back patio, which had space heaters, making it quite comfortable. The staff were friendly, passionate, and knowledgeable about the menu. I can’t wait to return and try the duck and waffle! I highly recommend checking it out—you won’t be disappointed!"

Had the lamb cold noodles and the duck confit waffle, along with an Ebbs Gose to wash it all down. Everything was excellent as was the service.

Owner Erin Norris has revitalized her Red Hook staple with the addition of Chef Kevin Speltz. The menu is inventive and features vegan options. They offer an excellent selection of wine and sake, and be sure to check out the newly opened covered backyard—it’s a must-visit! View menu

What a wonderful little spot! The staff was incredibly friendly, and I absolutely loved the atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, which included several vegetarian and even vegan options. The charming garden terrace was a delightful bonus. We will definitely be returning!

We recently ate inside here and had a fantastic meal the dumplings were amazing, the mushroom burger was good, the noodle and soft egg dish was fantastic and the gravlax was great too! Can't wait to come back here when they're fully equipped and have the full bar menu! But it's worth coming now for the food alone.

We ordered biscuits with mushroom gravy, mushroom fried rice, and shrimp buns ? and shared these in tapas style. Everything was so well done: seemed like the right amount of everything. Also, loved their decor ? it seems like most of the items were bought at a thrift store, which is absolutely amazing. They have a beautiful patio with heaters.

We had a delightful experience trying out various dishes, such as biscuits with mushroom gravy, mushroom fried rice, and shrimp buns, all shared in a tapas-style. Each dish was beautifully prepared and served in perfect portions. The restaurant's decor was enchanting, featuring unique pieces that seemed like hidden treasures from a thrift store, which added to its inviting atmosphere. Additionally, there is a charming patio equipped with heaters for added comfort.

"When we called to reserve a table, no one informed us that there was a dining time limit of 1.5 hours. My friend wanted to invite more people to join us for dinner, but I was unsure if everyone would agree to the minimum charge of $60, including taxes and tips. I confirmed a reservation for 7 people during my second call, but ultimately, only 6 of us showed up. The table we were given was quite small, making it uncomfortable for six people, especially with the mandatory minimum spending of $60, as well as a 20% tip. For just two people, the minimum tip is 18%. I was confused about the dining time limit—was it two hours or 1.5? The party area was limited to just the backyard for additional seating. I was with friends who didn’t know the group well, and we arrived early at 3 PM, but we couldn’t wait until 6:30 PM. That’s why we ended up sitting at a separate table for two. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t seem to care and couldn’t arrange for us to be seated closer together. We had no choice in the matter. To make matters worse, the female waiter had a poor attitude. It felt like we were dining in a sidewalk market. She questioned another girl who served me ponzu sauce, apparently because I looked impatient when I saw her face. Her attitude only worsened after that. It seems like they need to train their employees better, as they seem unaware of how to provide good service. As for the food, it was just okay, typical of basic Japanese cuisine. There were too many restrictions! Customers are forced to adhere to the restaurant’s rules and limitations. I cannot recommend this place unless someone is specifically looking for a fast-food experience. In short, I don’t think I’ll be returning next time."
