"Despite living nearby in the 1990s, this was my first visit to the Holbrook Diner on July 21, 2023. The diner boasts a unique blend of retro and modern décor, featuring neon purple ceiling lights and chandeliers that complement the faux wooden flooring and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Main Street in Holbrook. From the moment we were seated, the service was outstanding. Our waiter was skilled and attentive without being rushed. The central location of the server hub and counter likely contributed to this efficient service. Although the menu presented an extensive array of choices, I quickly decided on the eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti. This dish has been my summer vacation staple in Long Island, as reflected in my previous reviews. Priced at $21.95, it also came with a choice of soup or salad, and I opted for the Manhattan Clam Chowder. I’ve consistently found that diners serve exceptional Manhattan Clam Chowder, and the Holbrook Diner was no exception. Before my entrée arrived, I enjoyed a house salad with honey mustard dressing, courtesy of my brother. When my eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti finally came, I was thoroughly pleased with both the portion size and flavor. While some might argue that this dish would be better at an Italian restaurant like Mama Lombardi's across the street, I believe that’s an unfair comparison. My brother wasn't in the mood for Italian, my dad had other preferences, and I craved Italian food, which is why we chose the diverse menu at the Holbrook Diner. The meal was substantial enough to easily offer a second helping. I paired the food with a couple of Cokes, and our waiter was quick to keep my glass filled. As a fan of reputable Long Island diners, I can confidently say that the Holbrook Diner ranks among the best."

My Wife and I used to come here regularly, good food, nice size portions and reasonably priced. Owners were very nice and the wait staff was great. We just recieved a delivery from Uber Eats which the delivery itself was excellent, but the food and portions were not what they used to be! We certainly paid enough! Service: Delivery Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100

I really love this diner! The food is top-notch, especially the beef brisket sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. The apple pie made for a fantastic dessert. The decor strikes a nice balance between modern and cozy. The service was attentive and friendly. Overall, I would give it a rating of 4 out of 5 for the food, service, and atmosphere. The cost per person typically ranges from $10 to $20. View menu

The restaurant features a delightful breakfast menu accompanied by charming decor. The service was exceptional, and the waitress was highly skilled. Dining in for breakfast is definitely worthwhile, with prices ranging from $10 to $20 per person. The food, service, and atmosphere all received a perfect score of 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the hash browns. Plus, there's plenty of free parking available.

I went to this restaurant with my mother and mother-in-law, and we all had a fantastic experience. They both ordered the pancakes and said they were expertly prepared. I opted for the classic French toast and found it to be delicious. The service was outstanding, with our waitress checking on us often, even though the place was busy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a wonderful dining experience.

I haven't visited this place in a long time, but I always make it a point to stop by when I'm in Long Island. I really like the updated decor. I ordered eggs, bacon, and hash browns, and I always request the hash browns to be well done since they can be a bit undercooked. I ended up eating the crispy part from the top. The staff was very friendly and kept my coffee topped off. I really miss diners like this; there’s nothing quite like it near my home. View menu

This is the diner you want. They are as skilled at making pot roast as they are Italian specialties. Everything is house made. The ingredients are fresh and top notch. I bring my mom here and she loves it. Order a dinner special and you get soup, salad, entree and dessert. All at a reasonable price. I eat the soup salad and bread and pick at my entree. I take home the rest of my entree and dessert. The amount of food would not matter if it wasn’t delicious and this food is delicious. The service is professional and quick but never rushed. I think they just did a remodel and it looks great. The owner asked how we liked our meal. Mom didn’t love her red cabbage and he really seemed to care abo...

The restaurant offered a nice atmosphere, enhanced by subtle Christmas decorations. Our server was efficient, but it was hard to understand him as he spoke quite quickly. Despite this, he was polite and attentive when we had questions about the menu. Surprisingly, the restaurant was quite busy for a Thursday evening, but we were seated without a long wait. Unfortunately, the dish I ordered, the Greek Chicken Wrap, was unappealing, and the potato salad tasted old. Within 20 minutes of finishing my meal, I felt unwell. At $17, the meal did not seem worth it. Additionally, the menu didn’t indicate that tomatoes were included in the wrap, and they didn’t look appetizing. My father's chocolate ca...

"I am far from a restaurant connoisseur nor do I leave reviews on any establishment regularly. But I have to say the food and drinks are top notch and they serve one of the best French dip sandwiches I’ve ever eaten and I’ve had quite a few in my time, at quite a few different restaurants on Long Island. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to look at some of the reviews for this particular establishment And I found quite a few people who had choice words to say about a business they’ve probably never owned or personally run themselves and about a profession they’ve probably never worked in themselves meaning being a restaurant owner and/or a waiter or waitress but they have plenty to say about it. One review says about how it needs to be updated, well I don’t know if you’ve noticed the name of the place but it’s the old city Public House not the new city Public House, it’s rustic and charming. Another reviewer made comments about the “older woman” waitress who works there and how she has “no personality” I will agree that she’s a little rough around the edges but she is a pissa and I don’t know too many waitresses that can handle an entire restaurant by herself and seemingly pay attention to all the tables that she’s serving so she means business and I guess that could be misconstrued as “grumpy”, said in another review. If you’re looking for really good food and a rustic charming atmosphere with a no nonsense waitress who’s going to get your order correct and make sure that you have everything you need throughout your dining experience then this is the place."
