"I can't recount how many times I've been at this place, and I aso can't believe I have never put in a Yelp review! This restaurant has always been my late night spot. But as I grow older, as we all are, I have visited it at an earlier and earlier time than before. It is still one of the most consistent and favorite place of Chinatown for me. First off, the dumpling soup her is the best! They will not skimp on the stuffing for your dumplings. The pork and shrimp and mushroom dumplings are so hearthy, that even my parents always ask for it when they come by. They roast pork and roast duck are good as well. The roast pork comes with a very crispy skin layer, and the fat layer is always at the right thickness. Some other dishes that I have also enjoyed included the fried intestine--so so good, together with the picked vegetable and the sauce, it is heaven! The steamed dungeness crab and rice in lotus leaf is also a great choice when you have a large group as well. Their stir fry flat noodle is also good, but not the best I have had. The congee served here is good as well, we usually get the preserved egg and pork one. Overall, you wouldn't be sad when you go to HK Food Street!"

I came with a group of around 15 people and the staff was very accommodating and helpful with choosing dishes and trying to fit everything we ordered on the table. We ordered a lot of dishes but the stand out ones were the pork and thousand year egg congee, wonton soup, fried fish, and the warm tofu pudding dessert. I did notice that some of their dishes tasted exactly the same and had the same spices (or lack of spices). Besides the dishes I mentioned above, the rest were pretty bland and seems to only be seasoned with salt or fried. Portion sizes are large but the price is also steep.

Hong Kong Food Street could just as easily be named Hong Kong Stewed Feet, given their offerings of chicken feet and a variety of other delicious Chinese dishes. We had been eagerly awaiting their return or reopening for a couple of years, as they were one of our favorite late-night spots. Unfortunately, it seems they will not be coming back; this has now been confirmed. They will be replaced by a different restaurant, and I’ll provide an update here once we learn what it will be and when it opens. We will truly miss their food, especially the amazing congee—they had the best in Houston.

Forgot how good this place was. Last time we came here was probably 6 years ago. Today we ordered the classic dishes any worthy Cantonese restaurant must do well. 1) Wonton Noodle Soup al dente noodles and huge wontons wrapped w whole shrimp. 2) Sweet Sour Pork price on the higher end for a Chinatown restaurant but the pork was fried well without the sauce being overly sweet. 3) Pig's Liver and Kidney Congee smooth congee with liver and kidney cooked just right. Not many restaurants clean the kidney well but this restaurant does an excellent job. My only complaint is they use MSG, not a lot of it but I def felt it.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of dining at an authentic Cantonese restaurant is perusing the extensive picture menu. It’s a fun challenge to choose your dishes as the vibrant images leap off the glossy pages! This place is far from the typical strip mall Chinese restaurants. From the beautifully arranged dishes to the rich flavors—ranging from cold plates to steaming hot soups, and from fresh vegetables to meats, along with perfectly crispy fried items and flavorful stir-fries—that “wok hey” feeling truly made me feel like I was in Hong Kong! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Houston’s Chinatown in search of authentic Cantonese cuisine. I’ll definitely be back myself... View menu

I always like coming here to get their wonton soup. Their wontons are huge and filled with shrimps and mushrooms. The soup broth is also sweet and just the right flavor. You can also get the wonton soup with noodles and with the roasted duck in it. The roasted duck goes well with the wonton soup and noodles but you will get less wontons. I have gotten the to-go version before but the roasted ducks they gave me were mostly bone pieces. Their wonton soup is one of their best dishes at a good price. Perfect for when you're sick or when it's cold although it's rarely cold in H-Town. Besides that, I have tried their lobster which was alright. It's located in the corner by 85C Bakery. Limited park...

Delightfully authentic Chinese food. I thoroughly enjoyed coming here with a large group. We ordered a plethora of dishes, and they all came out very quickly. The owner offered her input about the dishes, and we took some of her suggestions, which I'm so glad we did. My personal favorite was the beef you see in the first picture. The food came out steaming and sizzling on the hot plates. It was so good to eat together around the lazy Susan with heaping plates of delicious food. Even the dessert was authentic. I'm not usually a fan of Chinese desserts, but the sweet soup-like dessert truly washes down all the food I ate prior. It was the perfect end to a perfect meal. It's so sad that this re...

A pretty decent spot for authentic Cantonese food! You actually feel like you are in Hong Kong when you step inside the restaurant. The staff here isn't very friendly, but they are quick and efficient. The major downside is that the food is very overpriced. You can get similar options at Mein at a far cheaper price. On this particular experience, I came with a group of friends, and we decided to indulge ourselves. My personal favorites would have to be the spicy pork ribs and the salt and pepper squid. I normally order these two items at every Chinese restaurant. They came out very crispy with just the right amount of saltiness. They even have unique items like congee, which is perfect in th... During my recent visit, I tried six dishes, and my top two recommendations are: 1. **Peking Duck - $38**: I was impressed by how the duck was sliced and presented. Each piece includes a square of crispy skin, served with fluffy, taco-style bao buns, along with traditional condiments like hoisin sauce, sliced cucumbers, and green onions. The dish also comes with a complimentary duck broth soup containing bok choy—creamy and delicious, and best of all, it’s free! While it’s on the pricier side, it’s a generous portion that could easily feed 3-4 people. We even had to take some of the soup home because we were too full to finish! 2. **Japanese Eggplant and Beef Tips**: Lately, we’ve been on a...

Like many reviews indicate, HKFS is priced higher than other Asian restaurants in Chinatown, not sure why. They're known for their congee and wonton soups and have several types to choose from, as opposed to other Chinese restaurants that have 1 or maybe 2. This is not street food, nor a fast food restaurant. Inside it's classical furniture with a dining room that can accommodate large parties. There are two menus to choose from, one already sitting on a table with many small dishes for less than $10, and a larger traditional menu they hand you when you're seated. The latter contains mostly dinner and higher-priced items. The wonton soups and congees are listed on the menu already on the tab...
