"I took a friend to Maxwell's Tavern to celebrate his birthday. We went on a Wednesday night, and the place was crowded, which is a good sign. This is a cool tavern in downtown Waxhaw. They have a nice selection of craft beers on tap, and I had a Great Lake Oktoberfest. We both ordered the Maxwell's Tavern burger with fries, and it was so good. Maxwell's Tavern is a great place to have good beer and delicious food. I look forward to coming back soon. Kid-friendliness: Many people bring their kids to eat here. "Went to try something new, got seated right away, despite the crowd. I got the fish and chips, and the fish was absolutely tasteless. My father got the Shepard's pie and was disappointed even with the lamb it was bland. More potatoes than meat mixture. My husband got the Southern burger and enjoyed it. I recommend getting something from the menu with a red border! The curry dinner smelled amazing! We'll be back to try something else..."

"I’ve frequented this establishment for about 15yrs. I grew up in Waxhaw and Stacks was a favorite. Every Saturday I always got the same skillet and biscuits and in my opinion they were the best. Around Jan 2023 things started going downhill. Prices jumped up and food quality fell and cleanliness dumped. What used to be the best biscuits in my opinion are now little tennis ball sized lumps as hard as a rock and the hash browns are now flavorless and undercooked. I went 3 times before writing this review to make sure it wasn’t a one time thing. I suppose all good things must come to an end and the restaurant that embodied the best of our home town is no longer worth visiting. I am so disappointed"

"Emmets is a unique experience and wonderful treat! Their small plates come out immediately as ordered and are great for sharing amongst small groups. For larger groups plan to order multiples to share around the table. Incredibly unique dishes and well prepared plates the food is delicious and a fun experience in and of itself. We particularly enjoyed the wings, nachos, and tritip.Service was amazing. We originally were seated in a side room and it was unbearably loud. When we asked to move the waitress obliged and kindly made adjustments for us.The overall environment is electric and intimate making for a delightful evening of great food, drinks, and conversations.Highly recommended, please see some plates we enjoyed in the photos"

"5 stars!! Coffee was fantastic so was the food. They also have some things to buy in there. I bought some natural laundry detergent and a few loose leaf teas! However, the music is a tad distracting. I do wish they chose to play more, neutral music. Maybe like some instrumental upbeat jazz would really match the atmosphere. I’d be more inclined to come and bring a book with me but the music is rather loud. Other than that minor detail, very delighted to have found this place. I also want to acknowledge and appreciate the fact they support 2A. Thank you.
