Los Roberto's Taco Shop

I recently relocated to San Antonio from San Diego and had a strong craving for some genuine Mexican cuisine. This restaurant absolutely delivers! Be sure to try the California burrito and the rolled tacos – you won’t regret it!

I was greeted and had my order taken promptly upon arrival, but then I had to wait quite a long time to receive it. If I wanted to wait, I would have chosen to dine in rather than go for takeout. Please be more considerate of people's time!

The food was quite bland. The tacos were dry, and the chorizo and egg dish consisted of mostly egg. The chicken fajitas were more crumbly than identifiable pieces of chicken. Given the prices for each taco and plate, the value just isn't there, and I can't recommend this place to anyone. View menu

Avoid the wait at Las Palapas next door and discover this hidden gem just a short walk away. They have an extensive selection of tacos, warm chips, and a salsa bar, along with generous portion sizes. The guacamole and beef burrito were large, overflowing with beef and free of fillers like beans or potatoes. The restaurant is impeccably clean, and the service is fast and friendly.

My family and I have eaten at this restaurant several times, and each experience has been wonderful. The food is always served hot, fresh, and tasty, and the prices are fantastic. The staff is consistently friendly and ready to help. There's a large parking lot with easy access, making it convenient to come and go. The location is easy to find, and they have extended hours of operation.

The chips were warm, and I appreciated that the restaurant stays open late, which are definite pluses. However, my experience with the fish tacos was disappointing. They had an overly strong fishy smell and taste, reminiscent of low-quality seafood. After just a few bites, I lost my appetite and ended up feeling unwell afterward. The biggest issue was the salsa—it had a harsh chemical flavor that reminded me of industrial cleaners. I cannot recommend dining here again. View menu

Upon our arrival, we were quickly welcomed, and the waitress took our order without delay. However, when our food arrived, it looked nothing like what we had seen on their TikTok page. The chimichangas were void of meat, and the flautas had very little chicken in them. To make matters worse, I never received my Margarita! The dishes were quite bland and lacked any real flavor. If I had wanted a plain bean and cheese burrito, I could have easily ordered that. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

When visiting a new Mexican restaurant, I typically evaluate it based on three main components: the rice, refried beans, and tortillas. This taco shop excelled in two of those areas—the rice and beans were both delicious. However, the tortillas were not homemade, which is an essential factor for achieving authentic and exceptional Mexican cuisine. If they had served homemade tortillas, I would have easily given them a five-star rating. Other than that, the service was good, the interior was clean, and the kitchen seemed well-organized.
