Mala Sichuan Bistro

Very nice restaurant with excellent services and wonderful food. We had the asparagus soup and Crispy Spicy Chicken and both were wonderful.

The delicious Sichuan food Went with friends and we ordered the fish fillet spicy pot, tea duck and green vegetables, the food was delicious, not as spicy as we thought, but still quite delicious.

Great options for vegetarians I had some of the best maps tofu outside of China here. It was delicious! Only the correct amount of spices and the tofu sauce ratio was perfect! The garlic cucumbers were also great. The staff was friendly and the room is beautiful. View menu

The original Mala Sichuan. Little one. Not as hip and cool as the Montrose. And better. Deep in Chinatown, in a stripe center surrounded by many other Chinatown famous spots. Original and curious menu items, some traditional, some modern and cool. Not a Beef Broccoli, which is good.

Words can not describe how delicious everything was. Every time we go to Houston we have and will continue to make a stop here. I wasn't really sure what to order when I first went but I ended up really loving the Four Joy Lion Head and Red Oil Dumplings. My fiancé really likes the Mala Sichuan Beef.

Every positive review of this place is well justified. Easily the best sichuan cuisine I’ve had anywhere outside of China. The balance in flavors is wonderful nothing is overly salted, and the Mala is perfectly balanced. The portions are very generous, and the waitstaff is very courteous and outgoing. This is a fantastic authentic Sichuan restaurant in Houston. We ordered Mapo Tofu, Water Boiled Fish Fillet, and Spicy Crispy Chicken. All of these dishes are delicious, especially when paired with rice, as long as you can handle the heat. The Spicy Crispy Chicken is especially popular for very good reason. I also enjoyed the hot tea served in a sturdy ceramic kettle. I would definitely eat here again if I have the opportunity.

"The food was okay, but I found it lacked spice, although we didn’t specify a spice level since the menu had different chili indicators for each dish. The Kung Pao chicken was a bit too sweet for my taste. The eggplant was enjoyable, but I wish it had more spice and a savory flavor. On the other hand, the three chili duck had a nice strong tea flavor, as did the Chengdu pot prawn dish. The place got quite busy around 7:30 PM on a weeknight."

Ok this white 50 yr old man just had first taste of Sichuan. It was excellent. Started with cucumbers in oil and chili flakes it was delicious and refreshing. Next we had the house dumplings these pork dumplings were soft and had a delicious sauce. We ordered the salty and spicy chicken. This spice is like nothing I’ve ever had before. It reminded me of when you lick a 9 V battery and the tingly feeling on your tongue what is the equivalent of the spice. The chicken was excellent we next had the Mala Spicy prawns.
