"My new favorite Shanghai-style restaurant! The steamed pork xiaolongbao are absolutely delightful. Each dumpling is served in its own little foil cup, keeping them warm and ensuring the soup inside stays intact. The mapo egg tofu is truly special—silky and fluffy pieces of egg-shaped tofu served in a savory meat-based sauce with just the right amount of spice. It's so comforting! I think the scallion chicken could benefit from a side of ginger-scallion oil, but the poached chicken itself is cooked to perfection and there's plenty of it. The eight treasures dessert is large enough to share between two people, and it has just a hint of sweetness, making it a savory treat. I can't wait to try more items on the menu! You should definitely check this place out; it’s fantastic!"

Super expensive for the portion you get. Taste is okay, will not order it again.

Combination fried rice no longer have any taste, braised rice w/ veg salted pork now barely have any pork in it, mostly just pork fat and also tasteless. Only good thing is the pan-fried buns.

I wouldn't recommend the Yellow Croaker Pine Nuts Fried Rice—there's no actual yellow croaker in it! It isn't worth the money. The Braised Rice with Vegetable Salted Pork is also too salty, just like the fried rice.

The Pork with Salted Egg Yolk is still delicious; this is my second time ordering it. However, I was disappointed with the Yellow Croaker Pine Nuts Fried Rice as there was very little fish included. There were only a few tiny pieces, making them almost unnoticeable, and it felt like mostly fried rice. That said, the fried rice itself was quite tasty. View menu

"Great place, great food. My family and I go here regularly as the rest of them are vegetarian. Merit successfully breaks the stereotype that vegan food protein is missing, and that the only thing that vegans eat is salads and is hands down one of the best restaurants in Santa Clara County. Food: I had most of their menus and it never disappointed me. The variety of specials they always leave something new to try to bring me back. Some of their dishes lack gravity and can be very dry, so if you order more than one dish, make sure that at least one engraving has. My favorites are the Spicy Delight and the Golden era, of which I would highly recommend to get if you have never before in Merit. Your desserts are all milk-free and ice-free, but you really can't say it; my vegan dessert exploits cannot hold a candle to the cakes they bake. However, they are frozen and in a refrigerator in the dining area that I really do not like to see, but at least they are open about it. Service: Service is always fast and all service employees are familiar with the menu. All waiting times are reasonable and I have never been hungry to regret the waiting period. Staff really try to help what I can't say about many of the restaurants I was. The ambience: nothing to complain. Everything is well lit, and there is always enough room to eat. Overall: If you are looking for a vegan restaurant that is slightly different than usual, or just a good restaurant in general, Merit is and always at the top of my list!"
