"My girlfriend and I went to Purloo for Valentine's Day dinner, to start off with, the service was pretty poor. When we were greeted, the server pointed out the drinks and what not. Following this he showed up with my glass of wine a few moments later which was fine, however at that point we still hadn't received menus. From my point of view, I don't even understand how that happens in the first place (I work in a restaurant and that would never happen where I work All in all the service was pretty spotty throughout the entire meal and it wasn't very busy, we never had water, and there was even a point where we didn't see our server for at least mins. Now, onto the food. I had the beef short ribs and they were literally inedible, I've been to a lot of restaurants before and this was probably one of the worst entrees I've ever had, not to mention the greens on the side tasted exactly like grass. It's pretty bad when the dessert (bread pudding) is the best part of the meal. Anyway, this was all very disappointing, especially due to the fact that We went when it first opened and everything was really good. It might've been just an off night, but it was an awful experience for a special occasion dinner."

Food was wonderful. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Great fun sitting at the food bar watching the kitchen. And it was great to see Nash!

Chef Hughes has created a great dining experience. The menu was wide ranging and has something for everyone. The staff was really nice and the music, food and drinks were wonderful.

We got some small plates, and they were really SMALL. The server could have politely suggested we order something more because at many restaurants, a small plate makes a nice lunch. View menu

it took hour to receive a hamburger and a pork sandwich, while we were only of tables. the food was ok but not great for the price. also, the craft cocktail was good however there was a sticker floating in the drink that came off from the lemon's rind i would not recommend going here to anyone

The owner needs to hire a waitstaff who have actually worked in a restaurant before; as the two that were working the night my family was there seemed unfamiliar with the concept. Food was just OK. My wife ordered the low country boil which lacked some bread to soak up the broth. My daughter enjoyed her short rib; especially the chard. My drum was just alright. Way overpriced tiny desserts. The place was mostly empty and with good reason; many other much better options exist.

I tried this restaurant for the first time as a local. The service staff were inattentive and disinterested. It took over minutes for a drink. We never got a water refill until I flagged someone down. The food was mediocre at best, but the service ruined it. We had to stand by the door for several minutes before anyone even noted we were leaving and then was annoyed by our feedback. There are too many amazing restaurants in the city to patron a business with such lack of service. View menu

Ryan Hughes and his incredibly inventive talented staff are producing magic in the form of great food in the big easy. The Burgoo he serves is a tamer version of a Kentucky favorite with lamb that melts in your mouth. The mile high cornbread that accompanied the stew is a masterpiece. The Country plate has a pimento cheese that is one of the best and is complimenting a cured Mississippi cured lamb ham that is genius. The green goddess salad was made wonderful with the pickled veg on top. The peanut infused bourbon was enjoyed by my spouse and the Fest pecan Rootbeer was satisfying. The local road food pie that has been resurrected for dessert is both creative an archeological Truimph. Do not...

We came here on a weeknight. The restaurant was not crowded. We were looking forward to delicious and authentic Southern food. Our server was inattentive (for example, he forgot to bring a cocktail that was ordered and we had to remind him and he generally didn't pay much attention to us). He also didn't tell us until it arrived at the table that a dish couldn't be made as described "Our chef didn't like how the cheese straws came out so he gave you crackers instead The person who ordered that meal should have been told so she could decide whether to make a different choice. I wanted to order the duck breast, but it was sold out by pm, which was disappointing. My low-country boil was tasty a...
